Title:  Consulting Systems Engineer

Primetals Technologies, a worldwide leading engineering and manufacturer of capital equipment for the steel making industry, known for our strengths in mechanical engineering, electronics, automation, manufacturing, project management and service is hiring for the following position: HW Senior Systems Engineer in our Alpharetta GA headquarters.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

• Develops the design of complex electrical systems that integrate hardware and software.
• Develops material specifications, schematic preparation, Panel Layouts and follows up appropriately.
• Develops recommendations for ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction and improvement in customer satisfaction.
• Guides complex technical discussions and knowledge transfer for both processes and application of products to system design.
• Leads Perform basic automation hardware engineering by selecting appropriate PLCs, Field I/O cards, power supplies, etc.
• Supports project. in developing panel layouts with customers.
• Supports drawing development/generation tools for E-Plan.
• Work closely with Primetals engineering centers to perform detail engineering.
• Maintains close cooperation with Primetals centers of competence in Europe on development and customization of E-Plan and CAPE tools.
• Develops standard equipment designs to optimize cost and quality.
• Coordinates Automation HW engineering across projects to ensure uniform application of standards and procedures.
• Assists Project Management and Procurement in selection of panel manufacturing vendors.
• Defines Assists maintaining standards for panel wiring, layout and documentation for panel manufacturing vendors.
• Supports Work with CAD team on application of drawing standards and tools.
• Supports Test team on panel inspection and quality control activities.
• Supports Proposal teams on cost lowering initiatives.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPEREINCE:

• BSEE or equivalent combination of education and experience in automation electrical cabinet design and manufacturing.
• Knowledge of E-Plan P8 and/or AutoCAD Electrical
• Design and integration of Distributed I/O, PLC's, Power Supplies, HMI, Panel Layouts.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining composure. Expected to perform under very limited supervision.
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
• Provide direction to others.
• Ability and experience to work in collaborative team environment.
• Able and Willing for domestic and international travel of 20%.

PREFERRED EDUCATION SKILLS AND EXPEREINCE:

• Demonstrated experience using EEC for HW Engineering Configuration.
• AutoCAD electrical experience is a plus.
• Demonstrated Knowledge of Microsoft Visual Basic Scripting.
• Deep Experience and knowledge of relevant Siemens and or Rockwell products for power, Drives, Distributed I/O, PLC's etc.
• Experience and knowledge of industrial networks such as Profinet, Ethernet/IP, Profibus etc.
