DIRECTOR – Metallurgical Services Thin Slab Casters
The Director of Metallurgical Services Thin Slab Casters will report to the Metallurgical Services (MS) USA Business Segment Head. This position is responsible for the management of the Thin Slab and Beam Continuous Caster business in the USA, which will include the following locations: Blytheville, AR; Huger, SC; Columbus, MS; Decatur, AL and Ghent, KY.
The position may be based in any one of the following locations: Blytheville AR, Huger SC, Columbus MS, Decatur AL or Ghent KY.
The Director will be responsible for approximately 330 employees and 5 locations, including P&L results, development of business strategy, strategic initiatives, and operational performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for Thin Slab and Beam Continuous Caster external sales, sales administration, order management, engineering, repairs and reconditioning, field service, and complete service operations for Blytheville, AR; Huger, SC; Columbus, MS; Decatur, AL and Ghent, KY locations.
- Full Profit & Loss responsibilities for the Metallurgical Services – Thin Slab and Beam Caster Service business.
- Thin Slab and Beam Caster Customer management coordination in USA.
- Develop new business opportunities and negotiate new business deals in coordination with the MS Head in USA
- Work across the Service business and collaborate with peers in the execution of the overall business.
- Work across the global business to ensure alignment with other service organizations and global stakeholders.
- Drive the operational performance of the locations.
- Focus on Industry-4 products, and predictive services, such as e-diagnosis of equipment and condition monitoring business, m-space and MAT.
- Team Development & Performance Management. Lead, motivate and develop the Thin Slab and Beam Continuous Caster Service team to deliver world-class services to global customers. Development of succession planning within Thin Slab and Beam Continuous Caster Service.
- Business Performance - Develop & implement business performance monitoring/measuring tools to drive business process improvements, manage costs and support new business development/revenue.
- Responsible for Strategic Investments and Capital Resource planning/execution.
Education and Experience:
- 10+ years relevant experience (product, business, marketing and/or services operations management)
- BS in Engineering/Business preferred.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to work and motivate teams.
- Ability to think strategically and to develop and implement global business strategy.
- Strong business and operational analysis experience required.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills and ability to drive process improvements in operations.
- Significant experience in the service business with direct customer interaction.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in coordinating and overseeing entry to senior level professionals.
- Proven track of leading teams to successful technical project execution.
- Track record of improving team performance and work practice through team coaching.
- Competence to convey subtle or complex messages clearly, as appropriate for the topic and audience.
- Ability to consistently make timely decisions and balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness, even in the face of complexity.
- Solid knowledge of specific product and process technologies or broad knowledge of multiple product and process technologies within the service business.
- Demonstrated change management, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated success working in a distributed-team environment.
