Title:  Consulting Engineer

Position: Consulting Mechanical Engineer – Meltshop/Caster Engineer (Primetals Technologies USA LLC; Canonsburg, PA)

Location: 501 Technology Drive Canonsburg, PA, 15317

Duties: Plans and develops integrated process systems including mechanical machinery, with graphical and functional descriptions of process controls. Coordinates all interfaces among technical and other involved departments within the project, such as schedule, technical completeness, technical standards, and safety planning and is the interface between Project Management and Engineering. Leads problem solving, technical clarifications, and coordinating approvals with customer and other involved stakeholders, such as customer consultants, consortium partners, and approval agencies. Develops and maintains professional relationships at all levels. Conducts regular team meetings and design reviews. Serve as main technical interface to COC’s. Work with purchasing to develop and approve new suppliers. Support installation, startup, and cold and hot commissioning activities. Pre-project support including Develop schedule and costs for engineering and equipment; Participate with technical sales team in the development and optimization of the technical solution; Verifies technical specification and cost estimate is correct and meets customers’ requirements; Reviews vendor quotations and verifies equipment is suitable for the application.

Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field plus 5 years of experience in steel industry experience related to Upstream business (including Melt Shops) or related experience; OR Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field plus 8 years of experience in steel industry experience related to Upstream business (including Melt Shops) or related experience.

Skills Required: Must have experience with: AutoCAD and Solid edge; SAP; Steel and dedusting process; CAESAR- II piping analysis; Conceptual design; New product development; and Generation of potentially patented components. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.
