Title:  Sr Systems Engineer

We are searching for a Senior Systems Engineer for our Canonsburg, PA location.  This person will perform highly complex duties in the design, development, testing, documentation and start-up of the process control system. 

Responsibilities:

• Lead projects that vary in scope and complexity
• Develop new programs, as well as enhancements, modifications and upgrades to existing software for a specific contract
• Provide technical direction in area of specialty
• Develop functional specifications, system configurations and project schedules and assign tasks
• Functions as a Project Engineer for small projects
• Supports sales efforts including proposal generation and cost estimation
• Develops process calculations and models
• Designs, codes and tests software for assigned portion of the project
• Provides appropriate source code documentation to meet company or customer requirements
• Interacts with client engineers to answer technical questions and review design documents
• Defines the equipment to be purchased and then develops the engineering requisitions, followed by vendor evaluation and interaction with the vendor.
• Participates in project start-up to verify, debug and tune software developed.
• Coordinates and conducts training classes for the client for the project
• Interfaces with other company divisions and/or E&C company to support project work
• Responsible for project management of small projects including developing and maintaining budgets, issuing change orders and updating reports for senior management
• Abides by the Company’s engineering and standard operating procedures and develops, maintains and updates of them
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management
   

Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or an equivalent program
• Melt Shop Experience required
• Experience in one of the following: 
  • PLC and operator’s interface programming
  • Drives programming
  • Technological Control System (or equivalent)
  • C, C#, Java, or Visual Basic programming in a Windows environment
  • Modeling
  • Database programming
• Five to Eight years of experience with a similar Engineering company or from a steel or aluminum plant environment
• Willingness to travel
• Self-motivation
• Team Player
• Excellent oral/written communication skills
• Mechanical aptitude
