We are seeking an experienced machinist to join our team as a Machinist Training Specialist supporting industrial maintenance operations. This position is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering technical training programs for manual and CNC machinists.

 

The ideal candidate combines extensive machining expertise with a passion for teaching, coaching, and developing the next generation of skilled trades professionals.

 

As a Machinist Training Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring employees develop the technical knowledge, practical skills, and safety awareness necessary to perform at the highest level while supporting operational excellence and workforce development initiatives.

 

Required Qualifications -

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Journeyman Machinist certification or equivalent skilled trades experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • CNC machining equipment and operations
  • Manual machining equipment
  • Machine setup and operation
  • Blueprint reading
  • Precision measuring instruments
  • Manufacturing quality standards
  • Demonstrated ability to train and develop employees in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of machining fundamentals, tooling, feeds, speeds, and precision measurement.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to employees with different levels of experience.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating with supervisors, engineers, and operators.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a CNC Machinist, Manufacturing Trainer, or Machining Supervisor.
  • CNC programming experience.
  • Experience with multiple CNC controls and machine platforms.
  • Experience with Mastercam, CAM software, or similar systems.
  • Experience with GD&T and precision inspection methods.
  • Experience developing structured manufacturing training programs.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement.
  • Previous experience mentoring or supervising machinists.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver technical training programs for manual and CNC machinists.
  • Conduct hands-on instruction in machining practices, tooling, and measuring equipment.
  • Maintain training materials, work instructions, presentations, assessments, and skill-validation tools.
  • Evaluate employee competency through practical demonstrations, written assessments, and performance observations.
  • Coach and mentor trainees to enhance technical proficiency, quality standards, and safe work practices.
  • Support apprenticeship, onboarding, and upskilling programs.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing leaders, engineers, and subject matter experts to identify training needs and develop learning solutions.
  • Ensure training content aligns with company procedures, industry standards, and safety requirements.
  • Monitor training effectiveness and recommend continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate training records and documentation.
  • Serve as a technical resource for machining best practices, troubleshooting, and process improvements.

 

Work Environment

This position will be primarily based in the Machine Shop and will require significant hands-on interaction with employees and machining equipment.

The employee must follow all company safety requirements and applicable PPE requirements while working in operational areas.

The position may require flexible scheduling to support employees working different shifts and ensure adequate training coverage across the Machine Shop.
