The Primetals Ghent, KY facility conducts maintenance and reconditioning of conventional and new state-of-the-art slab casting equipment for Nucor Gallatin. The facility also offers engineering services, in-plant laser measurement services, plant millwright services, mechanical machining, fabrication, and welding services. Our expertise and technological advancements for the maintenance, repair and manufacture of continuous casting equipment, mold, segment, roll and related components allow us to provide our customers with an exceptional value in workmanship and quality assurance.

We are looking for a Quality Control Specialist for our Ghent location with responsibility for ensuring day-to-day compliance with Primetals Quality Management System at the local level.  This position reports to both the organizational level General Manager in Ghent, KY and the functional level VP of Quality and EHS for Primetals Technologies USA, ensuring alignment with both strategic goals and operational objectives.

Essential Functions

Quality

• Interface with engineering, project management, procurement and management in planning and coordinating all quality related activities for local Primetals Technologies facility.
• Manage ISO Document Control System and participate in internal and external ISO Quality Audits.
• Lead Root Cause and Corrective Actions of Nonconformances.
• Maintain and Monitor Nonconformance Reporting System and Customer Complaint Reporting System.
• Report to management on process quality issues and trends.
• Review suppliers purchase orders and ensure supplier quality requirements are being met.
• Maintain quality requirements and standards for the maintenance and repair of equipment and related products.
• Serve as the primary quality assurance resource to facility supervisors, team leaders and employees for problem identification, resolution, nonconformance reporting and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate and Lead Monthly Quality Meetings.
• Coordinate methods for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.

Education/Experience/Skills/Abilities

• Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) from four-year college or university in a related discipline; and least two (2) years related experience in a Quality role; or equivalent combination of related education and experience.
• Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Computer Skills: Knowledge of database software; project management software; spreadsheet software and word processing software.
