THE ROLE

 

We are Primetals Technologies UK Ltd, a world leader in metallurgical plant solutions, and we are looking to appoint a Materials Controller to join our Scunthorpe office.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for the receipt, checking, storage, issuing, and dispatch of goods in a professional manner to meet customer requirements.

 

You will assist the Primetals Scunthorpe EAF administration and production team, ensuring all goods are processed, managed, and issued in a timely manner. This will include obtaining and negotiating prices of consumables, generation of purchase orders, and follow-up with suppliers on outstanding orders.

 

You will liaise closely with the administration team to maintain accurate stock information.

 

 

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

These will include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

•          Receive incoming goods from both suppliers and customers (Goods In).

•          Perform the necessary quality checks on the incoming goods.

•          Process and handover the documentation in the agreed and required manner.

•          Make sure the goods are properly located and stored.

•          Issue goods to the production team as needed and documented in the job packs.

•          Liaise with consumable suppliers to ensure quality, delivery, and price are in line with the requirements.

•          Report and discuss on a regular basis with the Operations Manager about the progress, problems and proposed resolutions with a view to facilitating a successful customer project/order.

•          Dispatching of goods to suppliers for processing.

•          Dispatching of completed goods to customers (Goods Out).

 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

 

•          Prior experience in inventory management desirable.

•          Experience in heavy metal fabrication environment desirable.

•          Experience working in a fast-paced environment juggling and prioritising multiple tasks.

•          Strong spoken and written communication skills.

•          Computer literate (SAP, MS Office).

•          Flexibility to travel occasionally to supplier sites.

•          Materials handling experience and certificates (FLT license, crane usage, etc.)
