THE ROLE

 

An exciting opportunity for a Senior / Lead Electrical and Automation Engineer to join the Engineering Department and play an essential role in the delivery of complex solutions throughout the full project lifecycle.

 

Working as a key part of the Electrical and Automation Engineering team, providing engineering services for the company, responsible for the electrical / automation engineering of a specific portion of a product or project.

 

This role will report to the Electrical and Automation Engineering Manager and will have regular contact with colleagues from all functional areas of the business.

 MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Working with other Primetals engineering centers / teams to provide Electrical Plant integration for larger and multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Leading the design, engineering, and commissioning of Electrical & Automation portion of the project
  • Supporting the Projects Proposals Team in preparing Technical Specifications for the Electrical & Automation portion of the project.
  • Produce technically compliant and cost-effective design documentation; drawings, specifications, calculations, manuals etc. for a specific area/equipment and meet project requirements and company operating procedures / statutory obligations.
  • Work with the engineering manager / Project Engineer as the technical focus for a specific function of a project ensuring a successful and commercially viable contract execution. This would include reporting budgets, progress, and change management.
  • Provide technical support to ensure that equipment is manufactured, tested, installed, and commissioned in accordance with the design and operational requirements, either from the office or at site
  • Develop, maintain and cultivate relationships with Clients, Suppliers, Sub Contractors to ensure successful execution of the project, future business.
  • Involvement with site support and commissioning of some products and equipment at  clients’ sites.

 

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

 

  • Ability to solve problems quickly and positively. Take an active part in the decision making of the engineering team.
  • Experience of project engineering and the project lifecycle from sales through to installation & commissioning.
  • Strong ability within machine design and instrumentation
  • Experience and understanding of sizing and application of motors to optimize machine design is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of safety systems for industrial control

Must have current UK Driving License, as well as the right to live and work in the UK and travel internationally without restrictions, if required, occasionally at short notice.
