Primetals Technologies, a worldwide leading engineering and manufacturer of capital equipment for the steel making industry, known for our strengths in mechanical engineering, electronics, automation, manufacturing, project management and service is hiring for the following position:

 Engineer   Sutton, MA

Overview:

The Engineer position will be an integral member in the design and development of new and existing products within the guides department portfolio.

Responsibilities:

• Design of new products, and the improvement of existing products.
• Interface with customers as required, developing a clear understanding of product requirements.
• Responsibility for project planning and monitoring, including defining schedules and resources, as well as the technical plan.
• Design for manufacture, assembly, cost and quality including drawings, tolerances, and specifications.
• Coordinate with other engineering groups, manufacturing, and procurement to ensure that project goals are met.
• Work as part of a team with a clear understanding of target costing and overall organizational objectives.

Required Knowledge/skills, Education and Experience:

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a combiniation of education and  experience. 0
•  - 5 years of experience in design of mechanical equipment.
• Experience with MATLAB and or VBA programming a plus.
• Experience with machine vision programming and integration a plus.
• Experience with machine automation and mechatronics a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products a plus.
• Travel:  Up to 15% international and domestic travel.
• Solidworks or other 3D based modeling experience is required.
• AutoCAD experience is a plus.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to create and read 2D production drawings.
• Experience and understanding of ANSI and ISO dimensioning techniques as well as geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Experience working with a variety of manufacturing techniques including casting, fabrication, and machining.
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively deal with external and internal customers.
• Individual must be flexible and be able to perform a broad variety of tasks related to technical proposals, engineering, and sales.
