Field Service Engineer
Overview:
Provides all aspects of maintenance, problem solving, reconditioning and direct rebuild of equipment and systems relating to ferrous and non-ferrous rolling mills at customer site, Primetals or other outside facitlities. Integrate with related technologies internally such as Engineering groups and Predictive Services to bring solutions to the field. Provide training to customers regarding maintenance and adjustment of complex equipment. Performs the review of complex task plans, drawings and installation schematics and provides guidance throughout task duration. Required to complete and submit reports covering all on-site job activity.
Responsibilities:
- Support the After-Market Spares group’s need for customer Field Service
- Understand the equipment design theory
- Hands on equipment rebuild capability
- Direct customer maintenance technicians in proper rebuild plans & techniques
- Develop network within design and field service resources
- Supplement vibration analysis reports with detailed maintenance instruction / recommendations
- Work with customers to develop maintenance plans based on predictive service analysis reports
- Establish customer relationships for continued service visits
- Develop and document mechanical maintenance procedures
- Support MS reconditioning & LR Assembly on shop floor
- Flexibibility to meet customer requirements required
- Other reasonable related duties as assigned
Required Knowledge/skills, Education and Experience:
- BS in related discipline, or advanced degree, where required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Typically, 2-5 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of key responsibilities and knowledge as presented above. Candidates with less experience but appropriate education may be considered.
- Experience in a technical role supporting mechanical equipment and interfacing with end users.
- Mechanical Engineering, machine design knowledge is required
- Required Travel 25% - 50%
The following are preferred requirements:
- Familiar with Steel Rolling Mill mechanical equipment
- Able to read measuring instruments and blueprints
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Excellent Written and Verbal Communication
- Excellent Interpersonal skills
- Professional, proactive, and self-motivated with the ability to take direction
- Efficient and effective multitasker
