Tool Room Technician – 1st Shift

 

 

Job Description

 

Operator will also be responsible to operate a wide variety of machines (both manual and CNC) in the Tool Room to produce precision product, tooling or fixtures.  They will work with the assembly and Maintenance departments with any machining needs.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Candidates must have the ability to:

  • Select appropriate tooling, proper speeds/feeds, setting and using precision gauges.
  • Read complex prints
  • Perform set-ups
  • Work to very close tolerances.
  • Understand Metrics
  • Mentor other workers
  • Lead our Co-Op Training Program
  • Be proactive in their way of thinking.

 

Check parts for conformity to dimensional specifications by use of micrometers or gauges. Perform first piece inspection, in-process inspection and maintain quality records. Mathematical calculations (trigonometry) required.

Analyze tooling, setups, and procedures and make recommendations for improvements to shorten run times.

Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe condition.

Follow prescribed or standard safety regulations.

Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.

 

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Must have working knowledge with wide variety of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to use precision metrology equipment such as tool presetting equipment, micrometers and Vernier calipers.
  • Must understand and be able to work in both Imperial and Metric systems.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as ability to function as a member of a team
  • Basic computer skills
  • Preferred experience includes set up and operation of CNC Milling and Turning Centers.
  • Goal oriented, process driven.
