Location:  Alpharetta, GA                                   Required Travel: 0- 30% (potential international)

 

Required Education: Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or similar minimum.  Advanced degree in engineering or business is an added plus.  Professional certifications are also an added plus.

 

Position Overview: The Engineering Manager will report to the Director of Electrical and Automation Business Sub Segment.  The Engineering Manager will work closely with multiple departments within the US (procurement, sales, project management, and support functions) to create an aligned culture around consistent, sustained, and effective employee policies and practices in support of short and long-term business plans, including operating and financial objectives. The Engineering Manager is responsible for a broad spectrum of managerial deliverables that includes talent management, employee engagement, and overall leadership of the group. To accomplish this broad scope of responsibilities, the Engineering Manager will direct a team of roughly 15 engineers.  While the position is located in the US and responsible for US programs, it is critical that he/she be able to interact with teams in other geographic regions.  The ability to work with a global view is important.

 

Duties in general to include:

Engineering Strategy: As a member of the leadership team, lead the development of the EA strategy, as well as the application and implementation of this strategy that supports the overall business in the market.

Management: Contribute to the development of the overall team capabilities through employee development, regular employee communications.

Processes: Continuous review of internal processes to create high-value, low bureaucracy processes and a sustained effort, across the global business.

Culture: It is vital that the Engineering Manager adapt and promote Teamwork, Ownership, and Get Things Done.  He/she must become a positive role model for employees.

 

Functional Experience

Strong engineering background and experience in metals or related industries and managerial experienced.  Successful candidates will have progressed through a variety of business functions (engineering, lead engineering, engineering management, project management, technical sales). Must have demonstrated experience in managing departmental budgets in an engineering environment.

 

Comfortable as final authority in creating solutions and resolving problems in the application of technology to metals industry processes, with an intimate knowledge of metals industry processes, including operation, practices, maintenance and reliability, and performance improvement

 

Technical Experience:

  • Engineering experience for electrical and automation solutions in the metals or similar industries.
  • Engineering management experience for electrical and automation solutions in the metals or similar industries.
  • Project management experience for electrical and automation solutions in the metals or similar industries.
  • Technical sales experience for electrical and automation solutions in the metals or similar industries.
  • Extensive experience managing customer technical interfaces throughout the development, delivery and startup of complex projects.
