We have an excellent opportunity for an Apprentice Assistant Buyer working within our procurement and supply chain team. Based at our office in Sheffield or Stockton-on-Tees we are offering you the opportunity to learn the art of negotiating, finding the path to getting a ‘good deal’ and being a proactive member of a highly motivated and close-knit team delivering world-class projects across the globe.

 

In procurement, we are not just buying; we are building relationships, finding suppliers, negotiating tough deals, completing the deal, understanding technical terms, and most of all delivering results. The procurement team are responsible for every penny the company spends and the team is expected to make every penny count.  

                                   

If your good at building relationships, communicating and connecting with people you may already have a lot of the key skills needed for a career in procurement. Procurement is the gateway to a global supply base; you ensure that the right suppliers are sourced, that the budget meets the cost, and that the supplier meets strict commercial and technical requirements.

In this role, you will gain a breadth of knowledge and experience within the procurement function supporting our global projects working alongside industry leading experts. In addition, you’ll gain greater understanding into the wider Supply Chain Management department in the disciplines of Logistics and Quality Management.

 

  • Communicating with overseas suppliers, building and nurturing relationships that could mean the difference between failure and success.
  • Find creative solutions to deliver results, take pride in delivering projects to budget
  • Learn the art of negotiation, the importance of win win solutions and executing projects on a global scale.
  • Learning how to invoice, work to a budget and estimate.
  • Hone IT skills and learn new systems and software
  • Spending time in other departments with colleagues to ensure a full overall understanding of the business operations

 

Alongside this, you will be included in our internal development programme, giving you access to further training and mentoring.

 

You will undertake a level 4 Commercial Procurement and Supply Chain (equivalent to HNC) through day / block release with an external provider.

 

On successful completion of the apprenticeship there will be opportunities for continuing professional development and progression within the Company.
