Purpose of the role

 

  • MHIRJ’s network of service centers, support offices and parts depots are positioned in important aviation hubs in the U.S. The Network Materials Manager oversees the operations and personnel of the Material Support Department across WVAC (West Virginia) TAC (Tucson, AZ) and CR&O (West Virginia). This role is responsible for the efficient and cost-effective management, warehousing, inventory control, and distribution of materials supporting Service Center Network (SCN) facilities. Based in West Virginia, this position will occasionally require travel to Tucson, Arizona. The Materials Stores Manager ensures that all materials-related activities are organized to effectively support and optimize operational performance. This leader is accountable for guiding, developing, and ensuring the safety of all department team members while consistently meeting performance and quality standards. The role requires close coordination with operations to align staffing, resources, and schedules, while fostering cross-functional collaboration and proactively resolving operational challenges in partnership with site leadership. The Materials Stores Manager ensures compliance with established policies, procedures, material standards, and operational priorities under the direction of senior management. Occasional overnight travel and participation in meetings outside of standard working hours may be required.

 

Here are the daily responsibilities of a Network Materials Manager:

 

  • Perform managerial responsibilities and recommend related actions including hire/separation, disciplinary actions, PMP, training and certifications, work assignments, scheduling vacation, monitoring attendance, review, approve, and verify employee hours worked and paid
  • Manage inventory levels and material planning functions to achieve established customer service goals, maintenance program requirements, and fill rate objectives
  • Manage warehouse operations to include material handling/stocking, tool control, shipping and receiving and inventory cycle count procedures
  • Manage warehouse operations to comply with all federal and state regulations, including
  • HAZMAT compliance and FAA regulations
  • Manage warehouse operations to provide 24/7 support to maintenance hangar requirements
  • Communicate company and department manager’s goals and objectives to employees as well as employee suggestions and concerns to management
  • Monitor and control department capital and operating budgets
  • Implement capital requests required for budgets (upon approval)
  • Prepare and present reports on material support operations for assigned area(s) to management on a scheduled basis
  • May function as Material Business Process Advisor for Service Center Network and parts logistics organization
  • Responsible for the operation of electronic computers and auxiliary equipment to assure cost efficient operation and effective utilization of personnel and equipment to meet operations and financial requirements as required by assigned site
  • May liaise between information technology and other facility functions to determine overall

process/systems approach

  • May oversee security of all data processing related information and facilities as well as

contingency plan for discontinuance of data processing service over an extended period of time

  • May oversee all systems and programming activities including the development, establishment, and implementation of new or revisions to existing systems and programs concerned with data processing
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Here is what is required to succeed:

 

  • 5+ years of experience in inventory administration and management and 3 years progressive supervisory experience
  • Planning and organizational skills necessary to prioritize, assign, and coordinate workload of assigned area and employees within a multiple project setting
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, employees, management, and contractors
  • Computer skills necessary to learn and/or operate word processing, spreadsheet, database, email, and internet-based applications.
  • Working knowledge of FAA and Federal Aviation Regulations
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Management, or a related field or equivalent experience
  • Project management experience (Preferred) 
  • Experience working in various areas of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries business units. (Preferred)
  • Ability to assign and delegate work, problem solve, answer questions and evaluate results of performance (Preferred)
  • Import /Export inventory controls (Preferred)
