We are looking to hire for the position of Civil Engineer at our Canonsburg PA location. The position reports to the Director of Mechanical Engineering. The ideal candidate will perform the civil/structural design of foundation and steel structures supporting the equipment used in hot and cold steel rolling mills, processing lines, casting, and steel making plants. He/she will work with the mechanical equipment general arrangements to verify equipment interfacing, and then complete any structural steel platforms and civil foundations required to support the equipment. He/she will interface with various other engineering disciplines, to include fluids, electrical and mechanical engineers.

Responsibilities:

• Must be able to create the plant level scroll, foundation bolt plan and loading drawings, and civil structure design sections to allow the complete detailed engineering to be completed by the overall plant builder/contractor.
• Must possess the ability to perform civil/structural design and analysis for concrete and steel structures supporting the equipment.
• Must have an understanding of civil/structural engineering codes and standards, and civil installation requirements for erection of equipment at customer site.
• He/She will be the main point of contact for all civil/structural steel questions for engineering department.
• He/she will work with pre-project team with plant layouts and technical specifications.
• Must have an understanding of engineering site plans, steel mills and plant layouts.
• Work with installation services department to understand project installation requirements.
• Work within the scheduled timeframe for each project while maintaining progress on multiple projects simultaneously

Knowledge/Skills, Education and Experience:

• Civil/Structural Engineering degree required
• Eight to Ten years of related experience
• Calculations of live and dead loads on concrete and steel structures related to various mechanical machines and systems
• Proficient in AutoCAD 2D, SolidEdge 3D experience, a plus
• Work with little supervision
• Must be self-motivated, accurate, maintain a tight schedule
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to travel to site to obtain “as-built” information on retrofit projects and assist external design teams, if required
