SCOPE:
The Mechanical Engineer III will design, analyze, and maintain mechanical components and systems to meet specified requirements and standards for modular mechanical systems for data centers. The Mechanical Engineer III will design liquid cooling systems, modular chiller skids, CDUs, and air handling units tailored for hyperscale/colocation clients.
The ideal candidate will have at least a minimum of five (5) years of mechanical design experience in HVAC, cooling systems, or industrial equipment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design of chilled water systems, direct-to-chip liquid cooling skids, CDUs, and AHUs for data center deployments.
- Perform thermal and fluid calculations for cooling system performance.
- Create detailed designs, schematics, P&IDs, BOMs, and layout drawings.
- Support manufacturing and supply chain teams in component selection and standardization.
- Collaborate with electrical and controls engineers for integrated solutions.
- Participate in client technical reviews and ensure designs meet customer standards.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies (immersion cooling, refrigerant-free systems)
- Analyzes and troubleshoots mechanical issues or failures to identify root causes and develop solutions.
- Conducts prototype testing to evaluate the performance, reliability, and safety of mechanical systems.
- Identify appropriate materials and processes to ensure the quality, performance, and manufacturability of new and existing products.
- Utilize CAD software and other design and modeling tools to plan, develop, and improve mechanical parts or components and communicate conceptual designs and specifications to stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- Education Requirement: B.A or B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of mechanical design experience in HVAC, cooling systems, or industrial equipment.
- Familiarity with ASHRAE standards, particularly data center thermal guidelines.
- CAD proficiency (SolidWorks, Inventor, Revit, or similar).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- 7+ years’ experience designing for hyperscale or colocation data center customers.
- Experience with liquid cooling or modular chiller systems.
- Exposure to sustainable design, decarbonization strategies.to minimum requirements
- PE License from any Jurisdiction
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Travel %: 20
- Standard Monday through Friday work week. Weekend/late night work if applicable.
- Lifting/physical requirements: Regularly required to sit for long period, stand, walk, talk and/or hear Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
