Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, Inc. (MHIA) is looking for a Senior Director, Business Development to join our team. This role is hybrid with travel to project sites and other MHIA offices and is based out of our Carrollton-TX Office.

POSITION SUMMARY

 

In our Data Center & Energy Management Division, we are constantly evolving and improving our offerings and solutions to provide customers with the full benefit of our technology and innovation. This role focuses on developing highly effective business models that support customers in achieving their energy needs while improving efficiency, saving resources, and reducing emissions. The Sr. Director of Business Development will drive innovation and growth across our portfolio, with a primary focus on the Data Center Segment to better serve customers as electrical demand continues to increase and evolve. This position will lead business development efforts in North America, enhance marketing activities, and strengthen business intelligence to ensure early market penetration and strong collaboration with customers. The role involves implementing strategy, co-developing solutions with customers, and deploying advanced business models to meet evolving market needs.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Strategic Business Development

  • Work with existing key customers and markets, focusing on the Data Center Segment to strengthen relationships and promote strategy and portfolio expansion.
  • Explore new solutions by listening to customer needs and market trends, collaborating with customers and industry partners to deliver complete solutions.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to develop technical solutions that meet customer needs and promote advanced offerings.
  • Explore partnerships and long-term strategic relationships with parallel industries and key suppliers to present stronger system solutions.

Innovation And Business Model Design

  • Design and implement new business models and integrated solutions utilizing MHIA DCEM and third-party offerings.
  • Drive innovation in offerings to meet evolving customer requirements and market dynamics.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Leadership And Team Development

  • Provide strategic leadership guidance and direction to ensure organizational goals are met and measurable results delivered.
  • Establish clear objectives and performance expectations, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Develop, coach, and mentor a high-performing team of account executives, managers, and individual contributors.
  • Identify skill gaps and implement effective training programs for direct and regional teams.
  • Drive team growth by recruiting, hiring, and retaining top talent from diverse markets and backgrounds.

Sales And Market Expansion

  • Own and close enterprise deals with leading data centers, developers, owners, operators, and technology companies in North America.
  • Develop sophisticated deal structures aligned with customer business outcomes and strategic objectives.
  • Identify and capture strategic expansion opportunities as clients scale their AI operations.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Engineering, Business, Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Sales, Marketing, or Operations roles within the Electrical and Power Industry, preferably in Data Centers.
  • Experience engaging customers at all management, technical, and operational levels, building confidence to present company portfolio and solutions.
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment across different regions.
  • Collaborative, solutions-oriented approach with strong communication skills.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related discipline.
  • Experience in strategic partnerships and advanced business model development.
  • Knowledge of data center market trends and emerging technologies.
  • Proven track record of closing large enterprise deals and managing complex negotiations.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Approximately 30–50% travel for customer meetings, strategic engagements, and industry events. Travel may include domestic and occasional international assignments to support global initiatives.
