Location: Canonsburg, PA                                      Required Travel: 5-10%

 

Required Education: This position requires a bachelor’s degree with finance, accounting, auditing, focus. This position requires strong organizational, systems, and communications skills. Experience with complex long-term contracts is beneficial. A successful candidate will bring a diverse background in finance to include roles where leadership skills were required. In addition, a strong systems knowledge is required. Systems include SAP, databases, excellent Microsoft Office skills and attitude to positively influence the organization. An ideal candidate would have 2 to 5 years’ experience in accounting and / or similar commercial project management or project manager controller role.
Position Overview:

 

The role of the CPM is to serve as a partner to the business in the execution of medium, potentially international, customer contracts (“Projects”) in the Steel-making Industry. The CPM ensures that project management is performed with financial integrity and within contractual parameters. Responsibilities include management of all commercial aspects of a project required to ensure successful project execution including Revenue forecasting, milestone billing, cash management, commercial risk identification / mitigation, internal reporting, and interface with customers and vendors.

 

The CPM position is responsible for managing all operations and project activities from the commercial perspective.

 

Key Responsibilities:

The Commercial Project Manager will be assigned multiple Projects, depending upon contract size and complexity. He/she is responsible for performing the duties including but not limited to the following:
• Project forecasting and reporting of revenue, costs, and cash flow
• Timely billing, according to contract, including but not limited to milestone achievements
• Identify and partner with business to mitigate and anticipate potential risk
• Preparing contract change orders and claims
• Fulfilling the contractual insurance, guarantee and bond requirements
• Approving project purchase requisitions
• Performing the Goods Receipts function for delivered goods
• Preparing bank presentations for drawing from Export Letters of Credit
• Preparing commercial/proforma invoices for exportation of goods
• Monitoring aging/blocked balance sheet items such as Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. Resolving discrepancies
• Liaison to various internal functions
• Financial responsibility related to project closing, month end and other commercial activities
• Continuous Process Improvement

 

Required Skills/Knowledge, Education and Experience:
• Experience with financial reporting and accounting guidelines and experience interacting with external auditors
• Knowledge of work breakdown structure and / or chart of accounts

• International commercial terms (INCOterm) exposure
• A successful candidate will bring a diverse background in finance roles where leadership skills were required and will demonstrate an attitude which positively influences the project team
• Proficient Microsoft Office skills.
• SAP experience including Sales and Project models preferred
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret common financial reports and contract documents.
• Experience interacting with customers and sub-suppliers
• Personal attributes of the successful candidate include a strong work ethic, confidence, self-motivation, honesty, open communication style, and flexibility
• Self-starter who is action oriented and possesses a strong sense of urgency
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with people at all levels of the organization and facilitate the implementation of corrective action and best practice sharing.
• Experience with Accounting, Project forecasting and financial reporting preferred
• Prefer industrial industry knowledge
• Proficiency in foreign language a plus
