Summary
Commencement in this position will involve spending time initially at the Pearland Works location learning the local methodology and systems for supporting the Production personnel from a Manufacturing Engineering perspective. Within weeks, the successful candidate will then be re-located to the MCO main manufacturing facility in Hiroshima, Japan, for approximately 12 weeks. During this time the candidate will be mentored and work with the compressor testing team to understand the methodology and operation of testing Mitsubishi centrifugal compressors. Upon return to the Pearland Works location, the successful candidate will be expected to grow swiftly to be the lead person in the performance and mechanical integrity testing of compressors.
Roles and Responsibilities

- This position will require the successful candidate to spend time being technically trained by Test Engineers from MCO-I’s parent company MCO. During this on-the-job training, the successful candidate will be mentioned in the methodology and operation of testing Mitsubishi centrifugal compressors.
- The successful candidate will be expected to grow swiftly to be the lead person in the performance and mechanical integrity testing of compressors in the North America for MCO-I.
- Proactive engagement with HSE and 5S initiatives.
- Technical support during project bidding phase on MCOI performance testing capability.
- Creation of compressor testing plan, and when required, budget estimate for projects in the bidding phase.
- Creation of compressor testing plan and schedule for compressor performance and mechanical integrity testing.
- Responsible for the design and scheduled release for procurement of all equipment, piping, and fixtures required for specific projects.
- Creation of routers and project technical packages for test stand technicians, accompanied by dry gas seal leak testing.
- Operation of the test stand for the performance and mechanical integrity testing of compressors.
- Production of all performance and mechanical testing technical reports for submittal to Quality, Engineering, Project Management and the customer.
- Work closely with Engineering, both locally and in Japan, to resolve any performance or mechanical integrity compressor testing issues.
- Take lead on resolving any compressor testing non-conformances, consulting with other departments when required.
- Lead on maintaining compressor test stand compliance with quality standards, including, but not limited to equipment calibration.
- Lead and work in partnership with Maintenance Department in maintaining and troubleshooting the test stand equipment’s and systems, including management of 3rd party vendors.
- Creation and maintenance of compressor testing IMS controlled processes, procedures, data records, etc.
- Proactive continuous improvement of compressor test stand operational processes.
- Responsible for maintaining and tracking compressor test stand project budgets.
- Responsible for creating, maintaining and tracking compressor test stand CAPEX and OPEX budgets.
- Analysis of completed project budgets with update of project budget estimation standard.
- Open and responsive communication with project stakeholders, both internal and external.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree for an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Ability to calculate and conceptualize problems related to structural materials, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and dynamics.
- Strong ability and willingness to learn and develop technical ability, knowledge and skillsets.
- Willingness and ability to do hands on work in the compressor test stand area.
- Good ability with MS Office, Excel, Power Point, Word, Projects, Outlook, etc.
- Willingness to learn MCO-I Enterprise Resource Planning system (SAP) and other software where pertinent.
- Proactive in taking on responsibility and accountability.

- Have written and spoken English communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge and experiences of operation for compressor testing based on API 617 and ASME PTC-10.
- Knowledge of the operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of centrifugal compressor packages.
- Knowledge of compressor test stand maintenance.
- Experience in operation and maintenance of compressor testing facilities.
- Compressor performance and mechanical integrity testing analysis.
- Experience and accredited vibration analysis certification.
- Able to read and understand piping isometrics.
- Able to read and understand piping and instrumentation diagrams.
- Able to read and understand electrical diagrams.
- Understanding of HMI systems for high speed rotating equipment.
- Computer Aided Design (CAD)
- CAPEX return on investment analysis.
- Workflow optimization.
- Experience with 5S and Lean initiatives.
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit and work in front of a computer.
- Ability to spend time within the facility standing and walking.

Work environment
- Office environment but also includes shop environment with dust, fumes, and noise.
- Able to work outside of normal business hours, if required by project schedules, including weekends and holidays.
