SUMMARY

The Assembly Technician is responsible for overhaul, repair, and assembly of various turbine components.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Apply quality control procedures during disassembly, inspection, and assembly of turbine components while following OEM procedure and restoring components to drawing specifications.
  • Proficient at installing and aligning inter-stage seal housings into turbine blade ring assemblies.
  • Perform rigging techniques associated with blade rings, and various components.
  • Always utilize safety and material control procedures.
  • Use precision measuring equipment for interpretation of data.
  • Troubleshoot and communicate complicated mechanical assembly issues.
  • Operate overhead crane and practice crane safety and lifting signals.
  • Operate and practice forklift safety and proper hand signals.
  • Maintain tooling inventory, assist in parts inventory, and communicate re-order with the Assembly Supervisor.
  • Provide feedback to assembly supervisor regarding tooling and program development.
  • Perform other such duties as may be required.

  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures reporting unsafe activities to Management.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Contribute to building a positive team spirit.
  • Maintain in good status a driver’s license and passport.
  • Communicate effectively with subordinates and management at all levels.
  • Protect confidential information by not communicating, disclosing to, or using for benefit of third parties.
  • Maintain the highest degree of honesty and integrity at all times.
  • Overnight travel (15%) both domestic and international by land and/or air.

  • Education and/or Experience: One year certificate from college or technical school; or at least two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. 
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee’s working environment maybe loud.  The employee may be required to adhere to MHPSA and customer safety procedures including but not limited to, the use of personal protection equipment (hardhat, safety glasses, goggles, hearing and fall protection).
