Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, Inc. (MHIA) is looking for a Customer Success Benefits Analyst II to join our team. This is an onsite role based out of our Houston, TX Headquarters in the Galleria District.

SCOPE:
The Customer Success Benefits Analyst II supports MHIA and MHIA’s affiliate Retirement and Health and Welfare programs. The Benefits Analyst II partners with HR to provide accurate and timely responses to employees regarding benefits eligibility, coverage and provisions. The Benefits Analyst II ensures that plan offerings comply with all applicable laws and regulations. Provides reports regarding employee benefits. Assists in benefits communications and open enrollment.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of six (6) years of relevant benefits experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as a contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators.
- Coordinate data transfer to external contacts for services, premiums, and plan administration.
- Assess and improve internal processes to lower costs and boost efficiency.
- Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable government regulations. Maintain timeliness and accuracy in required reporting and fees.
- Coordinate daily benefits processing, including handling enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, QDROs, QMCSOs, distributions, loans, hardships, and compliance testing.
- Manage employee benefits files, update group benefits database, and maintain employee payroll records.
- Gather employee data and oversee the processing of monthly billings and the preparation of vouchers for payment of administrative fees for all group plans.
- Allocate group health and dental claims monthly and review quarterly.
- Analyze current benefits by evaluating the use, services, coverage, effectiveness, cost, plan experience, and competitive trends in benefits programs, and determine the company's stance.
- Conduct plan audits. Prepare, gather, and organize data for actuarial assessments. Review data alongside actuarial evaluation teams.
- Review both short- and long-term cost estimates, projections, and relevant statistical analyses related to changes in benefits programs and the implementation of new programs.
- Survey industry trends. Complete benefits surveys and review the information gathered from the results. Analyze complex benefits data. Forecast trends and support future benefits designs. Develop specific recommendations for management review.
- Monitor administrative costs of benefits programs and recommend strategies for cost containment, including alternative methods for administration and funding. Prepare budget recommendations and assist in monitoring, verifying, and reconciling budgeted funds.
- Provide customer service support to both internal and external customers. Develop communication tools to improve understanding of the company's benefits package.
- Design and distribute materials for benefits orientations, open enrollment, and summary plan descriptions.
- Oversee the day-to-day administration of multiple 401(k) retirement plans, including executing post-payroll funding, verifying the processing of contributions, withdrawals, and other participant transactions.
- Analyze and interpret plan documents, testing results, and government filings (e.g., Form 5500).
- Provide consulting support to clients on plan design, fiduciary responsibilities, and regulatory updates.
- Coordinate with multiple vendors, including recordkeepers, TPAs, custodians, and investment advisors, to ensure seamless plan administration.
- Collaborates with internal partners (such as accounting, treasury, audit, etc.) and plan providers to oversee compliance (internal and external) and identify and implement control updates and process improvements.
- Review and reconcile plan data, including participant records, contributions, and distributions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: A minimum of six (6) years of relevant benefits experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of all relevant federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, that affect employee benefits programs, including the ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers' compensation, Medicare, OBRA, Social Security, and DOL requirements.
- Proficient in computer skills and technical abilities, including using Microsoft products such as PowerPoint, Excel Macros, and Pivot Tables; experience with HRIS and benefits databases.
- Effective planning and prioritization skills. Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.

- Excellent communication and organizational skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- CEBS Certification preferred.

- Travel %: Up to 10%
- Weekend/late night work if applicable: Occasionally
- Lifting/physical requirements: Regularly required to sit for long period, stand, walk, talk and/or hear. Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
