Hours:                                     Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

 

Summary of Duties:    

 

  • Lead the investigation, analysis and assessment of risk, and the design and implementation of strategies and processes which mitigate threats to the successful delivery of the organization’s corporate and business plans, and desired outcomes.
  • Provide expert advice, counsel and recommendations on risk identification, assessment, management and mitigation matters to influence organizational decisions and initiatives.
  • Develop and implement MHIA’s risk management plan and strategy, communicate expectations and obligations through Senior Executives and managers, and monitor and report on performance to improve MHIA’s risk profile.
  • Identify and detect potential threats to brand reputation, financial sustainability, operational efficiency, workforce investments and safety to fully develop a shared understanding for MHIA’s risk exposure.
  • Conduct or oversee the conduct of regular risk assessments and preparation of all documentation related to risk assessment, and reviews of standard operating procedures ensuring that recommended improvements are fully implemented.
  • Deliver regular risk analysis reports to the MHIA Senior Executives, complete with actionable plans for avoidance or prevention of possible threats at all levels.
  • Lead implementation of programs designed to anticipate and to minimize threats to MHIA.
  • Develop and implement insurance strategies and financing techniques to appropriately deal with any unanticipated losses.
  • Ability to conduct independent research utilizing on-line systems.
  • Drive a greater understanding and appreciation of risk, and the implications of failure to respond appropriately to threats as they emerge, in a context where disciplines around risk management are still evolving to an appropriate level of sophistication.
  • Create a consistent and high level of risk mitigating practice across all areas of the organization as a key mainstream management obligation and performance expectation.

 

Education requirements:             Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, International Business, International Relations or related field, or foreign equivalent

 

Experience requirements:            10 years’ experience in the commercial insurance industry and risk management field

 

Special Skills or Other Requirements:

 

Experience must include:

  1. Experience in the commercial insurance industry for the US domestic and international markets to properly perform the risk analysis and assessment.
  2. Experience in the entire range of risk financing techniques including retro plans, retention plans, large deductive and self-insured programs, and captives.

 

Travel requirements:      Up to 30-40% domestic/international travel required.
