Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, Inc. (MHIA) is looking for an Insurance Coordinator to join our team. This is an onsite role based out of our Houston or Maitland Headquarters.

SCOPE: 

The Insurance Coordinator supports the Risk Management department in overseeing and administering insurance programs across various affiliate businesses of MHI Group’s operations primarily across the United States, with additional coverage in Canada and Latin America. The Insurance Coordinator will work closely with the Senior Risk Analyst to facilitate daily administrative processes and customer support. This position plays an important role in ensuring the efficient operation of the department and maintaining a high level of service to affiliate businesses across the regions.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support and work with the Senior Risk Analyst in coordinating with multiple insurance brokers to respond and deliver the Certificate of Insurance (COI) requested by internal customers.
  • Coordinate with Accounting department to handle and manage insurance premium invoices and other payments.
  • Support the insurance policy renewal process by gathering exposure data from internal customers and make sure that the applications are properly completed.
  • Ensure accuracy and timely response in the assigned work.
  • Provide cross-functional support to the Senior Risk Analyst, including coverage during absences, as needed.
  • Establish a trusted presence as the primary point of contact for insurance-related administrative matters.
  • Establish appropriate communication with and between internal customers and insurance brokers to maintain long-term relationships.
  • Support the development and maintenance of solid connection with major insurance brokers.
  • Comply with proper internal controls as necessary to conduct job functions and/or carry out responsibilities and/or administrative activities within company.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders. Handle sensitive cases, and confidential information with the highest level of discretion, integrity, and professionalism.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Education Requirement: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience working in the Property and Casualty commercial insurance industry.
  • Experience supporting commercial insurance programs, including requesting, reviewing, processing, or issuing Certificates of Insurance (COIs), or comparable insurance documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of all commercial insurance lines’ products (CGL, Property, Marine Cargo, D&O, Professional Liability, Pollution Liability, EPL/FID, Crime, etc.)
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to general questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proactive, reliable, and collaborative.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • Prior experience in working as a commercial line insurance broker and in issuing COIs preferred.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Travel %: 10%
  • Weekend/late night work if applicable: 10%
  • Standard Monday through Friday work week.
  • Lifting/physical requirements: Regularly required to sit for long periods, stand, walk, talk and/or hear. Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
