Role Overview
The Operations Excellence Senior Engineer is responsible for driving operational rigor, process discipline, and continuous improvement across manufacturing and service activities at the Houston Operations site. This role focuses on ensuring robust management systems, process effectiveness, supplier performance, and corrective action execution to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Reporting directly to the General Manager, Houston Operations, this position partners closely with manufacturing, service execution, supply chain, engineering, and suppliers to strengthen operational performance, compliance with management systems, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and continuously improve site-level management systems aligned with ISO and Mitsubishi Power requirements, including internal and external audits, performance metrics, and corrective actions.
- Lead and facilitate root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and lessons learned related to manufacturing, repair, and service execution activities.
- Provide subject matter expertise and coaching to operations teams on process discipline, problem solving, and operational best practices.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, service, engineering, and supply chain teams to improve process capability, throughput, reliability, and first-time execution.
- Support development, improvement, and execution of inspections, verification methods, and operational controls to ensure products and services meet customer and contract requirements.
- Partner with suppliers to support performance related to process capability, delivery, and execution, including supplier assessments, surveillance, and improvement actions.
- Support and lead development of operational procedures, work instructions, and documentation to ensure consistency and repeatability of operations.
- Initiate and support site-level improvement projects focused on operational effectiveness, cost reduction, risk reduction, and customer satisfaction.
- Interface with customers, as needed, to support operational issue resolution and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support special projects and other duties as assigned by the General Manager, Houston Operations.

- Business travel (up to 15%) by land and/or air and overnight both domestically and internationally.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree (BS) in a technical discipline (Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Quality Management) from an accredited college or university; or at least ten (10) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Field Service and/or Repair Service, with Manufacturing/Industrial background: strong understanding and experience in implementing quality systems, with high focus on continual improvement.
- Must be able to interpret drawings for inspection purposes, create and implement inspection plans.
- Ability to apply inspection and test methods and use inspection equipment to determine product/service conformance.
- Ability to understand quality systems, as established by industry specific codes and standards.
- Certifications as a Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Nondestructive Testing and/or Welding Inspection (AWS/CWI) are desirable.
- Must be able to speak, read and write in English. Spanish and/or Japanese a plus.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Knowledge of database, project management, spreadsheet and word processing software, electronic mail, graphics, technical diagrams, flow charts, etc.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, talk and hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee may be occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, and work environment may be loud. Adherence to Mitsubishi Power and customer safety procedures including, but not limited to, the use of PPE (hardhat, safety glasses, goggles, hearing and fall protection).
