Job Description: 

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, Inc. (MHIA) is seeking a Project Development Manager to join our expanding carbon capture team. This is a hybrid role based out of our Houston, TX Office.

SCOPE:

The Project Development Manager will support the development of carbon capture projects in North America.  This role manages multiple studies and pre-FEED projects. Supports proposals and aligns project members and partners to produce the best desired project results.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide leadership and support for project development, including proposals, and working with the business development team.
  • Manage a project team for preparation of feasibility and pre-FEED studies. Coordinating with design team to ensure that all aspects of the project are completed on time and within budget.
  • Develop schedule and budget for the projects based on client needs.
  • Writing and reviewing proposal documents.
  • Monitoring progress of the project and study execution, identifying problems, and assisting the team in delivering an optimized solution that meets client’s needs and objectives.
  • Manage a project team to deliver Licensor’s Process Design Packages for third party design implementation.
  • Define project objectives, scope and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management.
  • Support growth of relationships with strategic partners, constructors, and engineering firms.
  • Support customer negotiations for contractual terms and agreements.
  • Develops, plans, coordinates, and manages projects across multiple locations and different global time zones.
  • Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.
  • Assures daily business operations are conducted in accordance with company policies and procedures, regulatory requirements, and contract requirements.
  • Support established organizational objectives by developing goals and strategies.
  • Review and understand commercial matters, contracts, technical documents and details.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Education Requirement:  bachelor’s degree in engineering from accredited college or university.
  • Experience:  At least ten (10) years of progressive experience in similar roles.
  • Any special skills/training/certifications
    • Professional Engineering (PE) License is preferred.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Understanding of commercial matters, contracts and related technical documents.
    • Proficient in the use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project
    • Japanese language communication skills are a plus.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

  • Travel: Up to 20% may be required and could be intermittent/short term notice
  • Evening work supporting calls with clients and international project team members.
