SCOPE:

 

This position is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for MHIA and its affiliates in North America. This role is responsible for providing a high level of customer service and continuous payroll improvements.

The ideal candidate would have experience in high-volume multi-state US payroll in addition to Canadian payroll experience.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure accurate and complete processing of Payroll for multiple pay frequencies. This includes entering and maintaining employee information, hours, earnings and deductions for payroll. Auditing the information entered and all payroll output.
  • Recommends or participates in the development of new procedures and policies related to payroll operations; identifies training issues and/or problem prone processes to ensure optimal efficiency and error-free operations.
  • Ensure federal and state/provincial/localities tax compliance with all authoritative bodies.
  • Review quarterly/annual wage and tax reports for accuracy, correcting employee wages and/or taxes or adjustment payrolls and previewing W2/T-4s to ensure they are correct.
  • Provide payroll reports on weekly, biweekly, and monthly or as needed.
  • Researches, analyzes and responds to complex matters requiring comprehensive knowledge of payroll policies and procedures. Resolves payroll discrepancies and irregularities.
  • Prepare and process garnishment orders to federal, state and local jurisdictions for all wage garnishments and child support. Ensure garnishments are applied and completed in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations to ensure the deductions are applied appropriately.
  • Respond to inquiries from employees and vendors regarding all payroll related matters.
  • Support all audits as necessary.
  • Support with year-end related tasks and client requests
  • Maintain an accurate record of any errors/issues on the issue log as they occur.
  • Coordinate payroll payments/adjustments for relocation expenses paid through the relocation carrier.
  • Prepare and provide payroll related reports as requested by Finance including G/L entries and/or discrepancies.
  • Maintain confidential information when required by legal or ethical standards and professionalism to ensure privacy of all employee records.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Education Requirement: Associates degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: At least four (4) years of payroll experience.
  • Any special skills/training/certifications:
    • CPP Preferred.
    • Considerable knowledge of payroll practices, regulations, and procedures, including local, state, and federal policies and regulations in a medium to large company required
    • Knowledge of HRIS, time/attendance systems or other computer systems applicable to payroll.
    • ADP Workforce Now Payroll Software Paylocity experience preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Travel: Less than 10%
  • Weekend/late night/holiday work if applicable: Occasionally.
  • Lifting/physical requirements: Regularly required to sit for long period, stand, walk, talk and/or hear. Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
