SCOPE:

 

Through the years and continuing through today, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America Corrugating Machinery Division (CMD) serves the growing, dynamic packaging industry with leading edge equipment systems, sales, parts, technical and field support, making it one of the most respected suppliers to converters in North and Central America.  

 

The Machinery Continuous Improvement Specialist will collaborate with senior leadership, managers, and machine champions to develop and execute processes aimed at enhancing machinery efficiency. This role involves training personnel on proper machine maintenance to ensure optimal performance in terms of speed and quality. Additionally, the MCIS will leverage technical expertise to analyze customer needs and create detailed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documentation for corrugated packaging equipment. This position provides operational support and training to internal teams and customers, contributing to the development initiatives of the Field Service team.

 

The ideal candidate will have technical depth to deeply understand the customer’s needs along with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage our customers.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Collaborate with sales and service teams to articulate the value proposition of our products in enhancing customer bottom lines.
  • Identify efficiencies and best practices to enhance customer production, maximizing equipment uptime and maintaining quality.
  • Coordinate regular progress reviews of Production Improvement Program (PIP) projects with project leaders and site leadership
  • Oversee Preventive Maintenance (PM) or Production Improvement Programs (PIP), evaluating effectiveness based on machine care plans and timelines of best practices.
  • Create and maintain a shared Wear Item Tracking Sheet with plant management and machine champion to be discussed on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Collaborate with customers to manage spare parts inventory, making recommendations aligned with best practices and customer needs.
  • Troubleshoot errors or malfunctions in the field or remotely, conduct root cause analysis, and recommend best practices for customers utilizing the Production Improvement Program.
  • Conduct on-site training sessions for operators and maintenance personnel on the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of corrugating equipment, ensuring adherence to proper procedures. Observe operations to ensure that proper procedures are followed.
  • Create and maintain all training documentation to facilitate the proper utilization of corrugating equipment and ensure knowledge transfer to each customer’s machine champion.
  • Document all work performed and training provided in accordance with customer contracts, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Perform any other related duties assigned by management or the company, maintaining the highest standards of honesty and integrity.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

 

  • Education: High School diploma/GED or equivalent required.
    • Higher technical education or 4-year degree in a related field preferred
  • Experience: At least five (5) years of experience in the Corrugated Industry in a technical capacity.
    • Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.
  • Special Skills/Training/Certifications:
    • Demonstrated knowledge of corrugated machinery, preventive maintenance, and production improvement programs.
    • Ability to translate and explain complex technical concepts.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and collaborate with diverse teams.
    • Ability to lead and drive positive results.
    • Demonstrated ability to coach, teach, and mentor others.
    • Proficient in MS Office tools

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Working Hours: Work will be performed at the request of the customer, anytime including day or night hours during the week. Expected hours will be Monday - Thursday (with travel or remote work on Friday). In the case of emergencies, weekend work is required.
