Role Overview
The Accounting Manager oversees end‑to‑end accounting and financial reporting for the New Generation Systems (NGS) division of Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc., ensuring accuracy, GAAP compliance, and strong financial controls. This role leads monthly close activities, manages intercompany and balance sheet reconciliations, provides technical accounting guidance (including ASC 606 assessments), and partners with Legal, Commercial, and Project Finance to support proper contract structure and revenue recognition. The manager supervises accounting staff, drives process and system improvements, supports audits, and contributes to budgeting and forecasting to provide timely, reliable financial insights that support business decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities

- Manage daily accounting and reporting activities for the NGS division, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and GAAP compliance.
- Prepare and review monthly close deliverables, including journal entries, accruals, prepaids, reclasses, and other ad hoc accounting transactions.
- Analyze monthly financial results, including Balance Sheet and Income Statement fluctuations, and provide clear explanations to management.
- Oversee intercompany accounting, performing reconciliations, eliminations, and variance analysis.
- Maintain accurate Balance Sheet reconciliations using Blackline and monitor account health throughout the close cycle.
- Provide technical accounting guidance, reviewing customer contracts for revenue recognition and other GAAP impacts, including ASC 606 assessments.
- Collaborate with Legal, Commercial, and Project Finance to ensure contract terms are structured and accounted for properly before execution.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls, and support internal and external audit requests.
- Manage and mentor accounting staff and interns, ensuring timely, high‑quality deliverables and supporting team development.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Partner with cross‑functional teams to ensure consistent application of accounting guidance and alignment with business and project objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement of accounting processes, financial systems, and internal controls across NGS Finance.
- Assist with annual budgeting activities and analyze actuals against budget to support forecasting and planning.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field from four-year College or university.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in accounting or a related role.
- CPA preferred.
- Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP Preferred), accounting, database, manufacturing, project management, spreadsheet, word processing and email software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate project financials.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting financial insights to stakeholders.
