Role Overview

Our products include advanced class gas turbines, hydrogen gas turbines, lithium ion and flow battery technologies, digital solutions, and renewable energy project development.

We are seeking a qualified and experienced candidate to lead new project initiatives, with a primary focus on civil and structural design elements. The Civil/Structural Engineering - Technical Lead will be responsible for overseeing the design and analysis of civil and structural engineering components. This individual will apply their expertise in structural engineering principles and practices to develop innovative solutions across a diverse range of projects, including support structures, concrete foundations, and steel structural systems.

The Civil/Structural Engineering – Technical Lead will lead a sub-team of engineers and technical staff to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with applicable codes and standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

·       Perform, review, comment, and approve engineering design and structural analysis for steel structures and concrete foundations

  • Collect, review, interpret, and integrate design requirements from customers, suppliers, and the parent company
  • Prepare and review engineering technical requirements to support the overall project proposal and bid strategy
  • Engage in technical conversations with customers on behalf of the Civil/Structural Team to address project needs and provide expert guidance
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders, including Supply Chain Management, Quality Controls, Construction Services, Project Management, and other Engineering Teams in prioritizing and resolving any issues related to Mitsubishi’s scope of supply.
  • Support the simplification and standardization of product designs to improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Enhance structural design standards for turbine generator foundations, air intake filter houses, equipment enclosures, and piping supports
  • Conduct regular meetings with international engineering partners to ensure successful design implementation
  • As assigned, lead periodic reviews of the civil/structural team's execution schedule, expedited engineering activities, escalated critical needs, and reported on the technical delivery status of the project.
  • Train designated engineers in performing structural analysis, preparing calculation reports, and applying sound engineering judgment.
  • Monitor and assess the workload of Civil/Structural team members, proactively communicating with the team manager to balance assignments and maintain efficiency.
  • Prepare and review budgets, bids, technical requirements, and commercial requirements
  • Ensure arrangement and foundation interface information meets requirements
  • Interface with internal and external teams to ensure that design interface information for structural commodities is accurate and properly accounted for 
  • Complete projects on time, in budget, and in accordance with applicable codes and standards
  • Offer insights to the team manager on individual performance of assigned Civil/Structural personnel to inform evaluations and foster continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate in recruiting and onboarding qualified candidates to strengthen the Civil/Structural team’s capabilities.
  • Carry out other responsibilities as assigned to meet evolving project and organizational needs.

 

Requirement

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Civil Engineering and Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required. Minimum of 10 years of experience in a related engineering field. Experience in gas turbine design, auxiliary systems, nuclear engineering, or foundations for rotating equipment is strongly preferred.
      • Strong familiarity with ASCE 7, IBC, AISC 360, ACI 318, OSHA, and industry standards. Familiarity with AISC 341, ACI 351, DIN 4024, ISO 1940 is a plus.
      • Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, thermodynamics, and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
      • Smart Plant 3D/ Tekla/ Revit: Familiarity with concepts fundamental to creation of integrated design in a 3D environment and extraction of technical detail is desired.
      • STAAD. Pro/ SAP2000/ GT Strudl: Familiarity with Structural Design tools is desired.
      • AutoCAD/ MicroStation: Familiarity with 2D CAD drafting tools is desired.
      • Travel – up to 10%. May include occasional oversees travel as needed by the business
