Mitsubishi Power, Inc. in Lake Mary, FL, is looking for a Configuration Engineer.
- ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define and maintain the configuration of all power products. This involves specifying the components, features, and options that can be selected for a given product.
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop the software infrastructure inside of PLM and ALM software’s required for properly managing the product configurations in a consistent manner and providing proper traceability of the product across its lifecycle.
- Create and maintain documentation related to product configurations. This includes product configuration guides, bill of materials (BOM), and other relevant documentation to ensure accurate and consistent product selections and applications.
- Work closely with design and engineering teams to understand product specifications and ensure that configurations align with design requirements. Provide input to design teams regarding the feasibility of certain configurations.
- Assist sales organizations in aligning available product configurations with their specific Customer requirements. This may involve understanding customer needs, proposing suitable configurations, and ensuring that product standards are maintained to the greatest extent possible.
- Manage changes to product configurations, including updates to specifications, components, or features. Ensure that changes are documented and communicated to relevant teams to maintain consistency.
- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure that configured products meet quality standards. Perform checks to verify that configurations adhere to safety and compliance regulations.
- In cases where products involve software components, Configuration Engineers may be involved in managing software configurations, ensuring proper version control, and coordinating software releases.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement in product configuration processes. Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy in application of the product configurations.
- Provide training to internal teams, including sales, manufacturing, and customer support, on product configurations. Ensure that teams are knowledgeable about the available options and configurations.
- Coordinate with supply chain management to ensure the availability of components needed for specific configurations.
- Ensure that product configurations comply with internal and external requirements. Stay informed about relevant changes in requirements and lead the process of updating configurations accordingly.
- Assist in ISO 9001 audits and compliance efforts.
Other Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain a high level of understanding of the core products and technologies delivered by Mitsubishi Power.
- Demonstrate leadership ability and provide direction to peers and inexperienced engineers.
- Perform technical analyses and produce detailed, concise, analytical reports.
- Support Mitsubishi Power commercial operations, sales, and marketing functions with technical information as needed.
- Generate ideas for product development by providing insights on how configurations are impacted by changes to requirements.
- Proactively improve tools, processes, and procedures of the Engineering team.
- Actively participate in a working environment where teamwork, quality, customer service and innovation are emphasized.
- Willing and able to work in a multi-cultural environment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Education and/or Experience: Bachelor of Science degree (BS) in Engineering from four-year college or university, preferably 4+ years of applicable experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. An entry level candidate with an education in industrial engineering may be considered. Subject matter expertise in other roles and engineering disciplines utilized in combined cycle plant design are not mandatory, but beneficial.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations in English language. Ability to write, in English language, reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
- Scientific Skills: Ability to work with core engineering design properties and understand the impacts of those properties on the design of industrial equipment.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office applications (Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, Acrobat Writer, Excel, etc.). Knowledge of PLM and ALM systems and how the architecture of those systems manage OEM products is desirable.
