Role Overview
As a Configuration Engineer you will play a crucial role in defining and sustaining the configuration of our diverse power products. You'll collaborate closely with design engineering teams to lead the transition from a document-centric design approach to a structured, part-based methodology using a PLM system. Assist the Proposal team by utilizing existing product data to ensure maximum reuse of equipment. Additionally, contribute to process improvements, develop new software tools, provide training, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop Part definition and BOM structures for all power products. This involves specifying the components, features, and options that can be selected for a given product.
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop the software infrastructure inside of PLM and ALM software’s required for properly managing the product data in a consistent manner and providing proper traceability of the product across its lifecycle.
- Work with the engineering organization to transform the current process to new PLM based practices and concepts.
- Create and maintain documentation for the training and adoption of PLM system instructional guides to ensure consistency across the team.
- Work closely with design engineering teams to understand product applicability and ensure that product selection aligns with design requirements.
- Assist the organization during proposal activities in aligning available product configurations with specific Customer requirements to ensure maximum reuse of equipment.
- Facilitate effective change management by ensuring changes are documented and communicated to relevant teams to maintain consistency.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement in product definition process. Implement PLM best practices to efficiency and accuracy in application of the product.
- Provide training to internal teams to ensure that teams are knowledgeable about the available product options and configurations.
- Coordinate with supply chain management to develop and maintain product integration with ERP system.
- Ensure that product configurations comply with internal and external requirements. Stay informed about relevant changes in requirements and lead the process of updating configurations accordingly.
- Assist in ISO 9001 audits and compliance efforts.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain a high level of understanding of the core products and technologies delivered by Mitsubishi Power.
- Demonstrate leadership ability and provide direction to peers and inexperienced engineers.
- Perform technical analyses and produce detailed, concise, analytical reports.
- Support Mitsubishi Power commercial operations, sales, and marketing functions with technical information as needed.
- Generate ideas for product development by providing insights on how configurations are impacted by changes to requirements.
- Proactively improve tools, processes, and procedures of the Engineering team.
- Actively participate in a working environment where teamwork, quality, customer service and innovation are emphasized.

Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree (BS) in Engineering from four-year college or university, preferably 4+ years of applicable experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:

- Proven experience in leading and implementing complex organizational change management initiatives.
- Strong background in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) data management is a core requirement.
- Familiarity with multiple engineering disciplines involved in industrial plant integration design is advantageous, though not mandatory.
- Ability to introduce and adequately articulate concepts and philosophies to new users. Ability to write, in English language, reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to work with core engineering design properties and understand the impacts of those properties on the design of industrial equipment.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, Acrobat Writer, Excel, etc.). Knowledge of PLM and ALM systems and how the architecture of those systems manage OEM products is desirable.
