Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. in Lake Mary, Florida is looking for a Control Systems Engineer – Hybrid Schedule.

The Control System Engineer is responsible for developing engineering designs, perform engineering reviews, configuration and testing of Control Systems that meet code, contract and schedule requirements for Mitsubishi Power projects in the Americas. Additional responsibilities include customer training and both remote and on-site support. The role primarily focuses on Control Systems related to large frame industrial gas turbines in simple cycle and/or combined cycle operation with the Steam Turbines. Scope may expand to other control systems within the plant at some future point.

 

BASIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with applications, estimation, and sales groups in developing new business proposals.
  • Design and review new design concepts and assist in the development of new control systems.
  • Maintaining and modifying existing control systems.
  • Collaborating with design engineers, operations engineers, purchasers, sales & marketing and other internal staff.
  • Liaising with clients, suppliers, contractors, project management and other relevant authorities within cost and time constrained environments.
  • Understanding and ensuring compliance with the health and safety regulations and quality standards of the country in which work is undertaken.
  • Development of RFQ’s for purchasing equipment.
  • Configuration of Mitsubishi Control System HMI and Database.
  • Manufacturing support and inspection of control systems including Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
  • Supporting Field Operations in performing on-site installation of Mitsubishi control systems.
    • Provide start-up commissioning, operations and/or troubleshooting support for equipment failures and determine root cause analysis and implement solutions.
    • Prepare and submit accurate reports regarding conditions, required actions and obtained results.
  • Overnight travel (at least 10%) by land and/or air.
  • Perform Classroom & OJT training of Mitsubishi Control system.
  • Perform other such duties as may be required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (BS) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from four-year college or university; and at least five (5) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in specific control disciplines such as advanced process control (APC), distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), OPC/Modbus and other forms of industry known communications and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) as applicable to power plants. Power plant related experience is a plus.

 

  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

  • Computer Skills: Knowledge of database, project management, spreadsheet and word processing software, electronic mail, graphics, technical diagrams, flow charts, etc.

 

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE PREFERENCES

 

  • Basic knowledge in networking concepts is required.
  • Previous experience of DIASYS Netmation Control System, PLC or other DCS is required.
  • Familiar with USA/International codes and standards such as UL508A, NFPA 70 & 79A, CSA C22. 1, IEC 60204-1, NEMA, etc. is highly preferred
  • Knowledge in industrial Control Systems Cyber Security requirements such as NERC CIP and IEC 62443 is highly preferred.
  • Experience with Control System and Panels design including but not limited to equipment selection, equipment layout and I/O Module selection and assignment is highly preferred. Control System retrofit experience is highly preferred.
  • Computer programming language knowledge using C# or Visual Basic.Net is preferred.
  • EPLAN: Experience of the Electric P8 and Pro Panel software is preferred.
  • Possessing current, working knowledge of power plants process, operation, control system design is a plus.
  • Previous experience with HMI Graphic Creating Tools and High-Performance Graphics is a plus.
  • Previous experience with Control Logic programming using Function Block Diagram, Control narrative preparation is a plus.
