Role Overview

The NGS Supply Chain Leader translates Corporate Strategic Goals into actionable implementation plans managed and executed by MPWA Managers, employees and contractor personnel.  Assigned to the New Generation Systems (NGS) Business Unit, the NGS Supply Chain Leader is responsible for implementing and successfully executing complete, on-time delivery of goods and services that meet quality and performance contract expectations and delivered at or under project approved budget amounts.  The NGS Supply Chain is focused on the delivery, installation, start-up and commissioning of Gas Turbine Combined Cycle (GTCC) power plant products and services supplied by MPWA. Project procurement scope includes bidding, purchase order award, expediting, inspection, delivery, warranty and contract close-out activities. The NGS Supply Chain Leader reports to the Vice President, Supply Chain Management and has responsibility for all NGS Supply Chain Management activity.  The NGS Supply Chain team supports the NGS Project Execution organization in achieving profit and loss targets established by MPWA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates our core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership
  • Establish and lead the management team responsible for the procurement of goods and services associated with GTCC contracts managed by the NGS Project Execution organization.  The NGS Supply Chain Management department scope of work is primarily focused on gas turbine auxiliary equipment but also includes steam turbine and generator auxiliaries as well. 
  • Establish and lead the management team responsible for the sourcing of goods and services on a regional basis in support of the MHI Diamond Procurement Network (DPN).  Develop and maintain contacts within the MPWA global procurement team as needed to support regional sourcing and procurement of goods and services for global projects managed and implemented outside of the NGS Project Execution organization.
  • Develop and implement standardized processes and procedures at both an individual project and enterprise level that demonstrate progress to date, forecasted cost at completion, forecasted time to complete and the variances in budgeted cost and schedule of procurements associated with NGS project baselines.
  • Develop and implement the processes required to establish project baseline procurement plans for procuring goods and services associated with NGS projects.
  • Support the planning and estimating process used to develop NGS project bids/proposals employing standardized equipment and services cost tracking. 
  • Manage the supplier qualification process to include initial, recurring and expanded evaluation of suppliers. 
  • Develop, maintain and communicate supplier performance evaluations associated with contract deliverable performance for NGS projects.
  • Develop and implement the processes, training and tracking systems necessary to identify and reduce/eliminate rework of equipment delivered as part of NGS projects.
  • Support the implementation of cost down initiatives designed to meet or exceed corporate productivity improvement targets in coordination with the NGS Project Execution organization.
  • Improve on-time delivery performance, product quality and competitive value compared to industry benchmarks.
  • Timely development and submittal of annual department budget inputs.
  • Effective management and execution of approved departmental budget.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures reporting all unsafe activities to Management and/or Human Resources.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Contribute to building a positive team spirit.
  • Communicate effectively with subordinates and management at all levels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business.
  • 10+ years of Supply Chain Management experience.
  • 8+ years of demonstrated leadership experience in building and developing high-performing teams.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience as a leader of leaders.
  • Ambassador of change management for processes, systems and organizational values.
  • Proven experience enhancing corporate culture.
  • Strong strategic and organizational agility in a cross functional organizational structure.
  • Deep knowledge of project, service and/or construction management involving power systems.
  • Strong experience with combustion turbines, steam turbines, generators, auxiliary equipment associated with turbines and generators, and balance of plant (BOP) systems.
  • Demonstrated success with equipment cost reduction, lead time reduction and quality control.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook and SAP.
  • Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, organizational skills and consistent constructive feedback given and received.
  • Ability to travel 25%.
