Mitsubishi Power Americas Inc., in Orlando, Florida is looking for an Electrical Engineer II

 

 

 

SUMMARY

 

This position is responsible for leading and designing the electrical power distribution and signal network and for the auxiliary equipment of our Gas Turbine projects. Our voltage levels are primarily in the low-voltage side (600V and below) with implementation of equipment such as MCCs, Panelboards, LV Transformers, DC Systems and Batteries.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop single-line diagrams, panelboard schedules, electrical loads lists, motors lists, wiring diagrams, control schematics, cable schedules, terminations schedules.
  • Develop power system plans, lighting plans, electrical room layouts, elevation drawings, conduit/cable tray arrangements, hazardous area classifications.
  • Perform calculations, sizing of equipment (i.e.: breakers, overload devices, relays), sizing of cables/conduits/equipment spacing, illumination level calculations, maintaining BOM’s, and other design duties required by complexity of project.
  • Develop and / or review electrical, control and instrumentation wiring diagrams and cable lists generated by SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL) or SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI).
  • Prepare purchase specs for electrical equipment and select vendors to construct electrical packages 
  • Generate Electrical drawing packages used or created by Electrical engineers, designers, and drafters to document logic, point to point wiring, and system interaction.
  • Interpret and design per code requirements from the authority having jurisdiction over a project’s electrical installation. Will need to be able to investigate, understand, and interpret when necessary the applicable electrical code for a project (NEC/NFPA 70, CEC, IEC, ISA, AGA, etc.).
  • Meet regularly w/ vendors and ensure that all technical and schedule requirements are met.
  • Interpret and integrate design requirements from parent company.
  • Interpret and respond to technical inquiries from customer, vendors and field personnel.
  • Use of SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL); SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) and SmartPlant 3D (S3D) to design electrical power and control systems. Experience with similar database driven software will also be considered.

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Possess current, working knowledge of electrical & instrumentation design for industrial facilities.
  • Preferred to have experience in working with Generators (150 MVA ratings and above) for Gas or Steam Turbines with its Auxiliaries power plant experience is a plus.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures reporting all unsafe activities to Management and/or Human Resources.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

  • Handles various assignments, including rework, in timely manner to meet schedule deadlines
  • Follows policies, procedures, safety guidelines on their work.
  • Unsure quality by following standard work/process instructions and identify any potential risk to product quality.
  • Develop schedules, coordinate and manage the design for projects of all sizes with minimal supervision from the project lead.
  • Simplify product designs for improved manufacturability and reduce cost w/o compromising product quality and function.
  • Assist Sales and Marketing and Development Engineering with projects to enhance existing and develop new product lines.
  • Meet schedule requirements for project engineering deliverables.
  • Provide technical support during manufacturing and commissioning of equipment
  • Lead junior engineers and interns and support their development.
  • Travel – up to 10%.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor Degree (BA) in Electrical Engineering required. Minimum three (3) years of technical and/or practical experience in industrial facility power distribution design (up to 600VAC and 220VDC) with signal propagation. Individuals with inclination towards computer programming languages is highly encouraged. ***Desired Minimum five (5) years of experience.***
      • Familiarity with electrical codes, industry standards and best practices is required; Strong familiarity with National Electric Code NFPA 70 is a requirement for this position; Knowledge of NEMA, IEC, IEEE, ISA, ANSI, NFPA 70E, UL, CSA, TUV, ISA, AGA, and other codes and standards desirable

 

SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE DESIRED

      • SmartPlant Electrical: Expertise of the software is a plus. Significant expertise in registered report creation/modification, symbol creation, filters creation, rules creation, reference data creation, batch mode operations, data maintenance, and overall effective utilization of tool.
      • SmartPlant Instrumentation: Past experience of the software is a plus.
      • SmartSketch: Past experience with the tool is a plus.
      • SmartPlant 3D: Minimum 2 years, or significant expertise in creation of electrical tray/conduit specifications, designing of trays/conduits, creation of tray/conduit drawings, and extraction of bills of materials from tool. All related to the electrical module of S3D. Experience with Revit 3d or another comparable 3D electrical design tool will be considered as well.
      • AutoCAD: Experience with tool is a plus
      • Lighting Software (i.e: DIALux, Visual, etc.): Familiarity with lighting calculation software and the capability to perform analyses and interpret the results against code requirements.
