Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. in Lake Mary, FL is seeking a Commissioning Services Engineer Level I.

SUMMARY

The Commissioning Services Engineer Level I works under the direction of the Commissioning Services Manager to provide commissioning support for all projects, from the proposal stage through startup and turnover at the project site. This role supports the Manager of Commissioning Services and Manager of Rotational TFA Services with commissioning TFA planning and acts as a focal point for commissioning-related matters. The position involves technical preparation, documentation, and coordination to ensure smooth and efficient commissioning activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review project contracts and documentation to effectively prepare and support site commissioning teams.

  • Assist in planning, forecasting, and scheduling personnel and resources for site assignments by monitoring project progress on a weekly or biweekly basis.

  • Read and understand project drawings, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), process diagrams, and function diagrams related to engineered systems.

  • Refine field procedures related to commissioning and startup activities, collaborating with Commissioning Team members and the Project Support Management team.

  • Ensure accurate and complete commissioning documentation for each project.

  • Maintain and update internal commissioning documentation and check sheets used during the commissioning phase.

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicate effectively with staff and management at all levels.

  • Promote teamwork between multiple groups involved in construction and commissioning.

  • Protect confidential information and maintain the highest standards of honesty and integrity.

  • Follow Mitsubishi Power safety requirements at all times.

  • Develop and maintain procedures and documentation related to commissioning.

  • Participate in Mitsubishi Power–sponsored training programs.

  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Work in a global environment to maintain standards and best practices.

  • Travel up to 10% domestically and internationally may be required.

  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and passport at all times.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline and up to two (2) years of direct experience in power generation, construction, or industrial operations; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience as determined by the hiring manager.

  • Knowledge of power systems, energy conversion, or heat engine design is preferred.

Engineering Skills:

  • Understanding of commissioning activities such as mechanical commissioning, testing, pipe flushing, and initial plant startup.

  • Knowledge of thermodynamic and fluid dynamic principles related to combined cycle power plants is beneficial.

  • Strong engineering background with the ability to quickly assess issues and determine optimal solutions.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations.

  • Skilled in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Effective in presenting information and responding to questions from managers and clients.

  • Multilingual ability in Japanese, Spanish, and/or Portuguese is an asset.

Mathematical & Reasoning Ability:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to interpret technical instructions and work with multiple abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and email applications.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb ladders during site visits.

  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds.

  • Noise levels during site visits may be moderate to loud; hearing protection may be required.

  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme weather conditions.
