Role Overview
The Engineer III – New Product Development position is a key member of the New Product Development (NPD) and Standardization team at Mitsubishi Power Americas. This role is responsible for managing new product development initiatives associated with Mitsubishi Power gas turbines and related auxiliary systems.
The position works closely with Engineering and Supply Chain Management under NGS to develop new products and continuously improve Mitsubishi Power technologies, helping maintain and enhance our competitive position in the market.
The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of Mitsubishi Power’s proposal and project execution processes, broad knowledge of simple cycle and combined cycle power generation technologies, and in-depth expertise in Mitsubishi gas turbines and associated auxiliaries.
This role requires a self-starter with strong communication skills who can lead through influence and work independently with minimal supervision.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Lead product development projects for products owned by the Lake Mary organization, with primary focus on gas turbine-related products.
• Partner with Generator and Steam Turbine Standardization Engineers to drive cost reduction initiatives and design improvements to existing standard products.
• Collaborate with Execution Teams, Supply Chain Management, and Gas Turbine Standardization Engineers to identify and implement product enhancements and cost-saving opportunities.
• Identify project tasks and assign resources necessary to successfully complete new product development efforts.
• Manage new product ideas within the SPOT configuration management system, including scheduling, status tracking, milestone development, reporting, and resource allocation.
• Coordinate with the Engineering Integration Team to ensure approved engineering labor resources are implemented to support new product development projects.
• Provide technical support for new product development initiatives, including supplier qualification activities, technical requirement validation, technology research, and feasibility studies.
• Work with Mitsubishi Power System Owners, Japanese counterparts, and Design Engineers to ensure supporting documentation is properly maintained and required design reviews are completed.
• Lead cost analyses with appropriate stakeholders to evaluate feasibility and business impact of improvement concepts.
• Forecast engineering workload requirements and communicate future resource needs across engineering disciplines.
• Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure program effectiveness and progress.
• Collaborate with PGS to understand and support product and design development requirements.
• Lead the NPD employee rewards and recognition program.
• Partner with Proposal Teams to ensure completed products are aligned and available for Approval to Quote (ATQ).
• Present monthly status reports to Mitsubishi leadership detailing project value, progress, roadblocks, achievements, and overall program performance.

Education & Experience
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Experience with Mitsubishi Power business development processes.
• Experience with Mitsubishi Power project execution processes.
• Experience with Mitsubishi Power gas turbine technology.
Preferred Qualifications
• Practical understanding of simple cycle and combined cycle power plant design.
• Experience with combustion turbine auxiliary systems.
• Experience commissioning combustion turbines and related auxiliaries.
• Expert-level proficiency in Windchill Plus (SPOT) product management system.
• In-depth knowledge of Mitsubishi Power standard Simple Cycle and Combined Cycle configurations, including Multi-Shaft and Single-Shaft systems.
• Strong understanding of gas turbine and auxiliary operating conditions.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and computer skills.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Language Skills
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
• Ability to prepare reports, business correspondence, and procedural documentation.
• Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from managers, customers, clients, and the public.
• Japanese or Spanish language fluency is a plus.
Reasoning Ability
• Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret complex technical instructions presented in mathematical, schematic, or diagram form.
• Ability to manage multiple abstract and concrete variables simultaneously.
Computer Skills
• Knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD), databases, project management tools, spreadsheet applications, word processing software, email systems, graphics software, technical diagrams, and flowcharting tools.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability and willingness to learn new product management and program management software systems.
