Role Overview
The Project Engineer Manager for ST and Generator section leads a team of Project Engineers (currently 8 Project Engineers) assuming overall responsibility for successful technical project execution related to Steam Turbine, Generator package, and related Auxiliary systems. The Project Engineers act as a liaison between the engineering team, project management and the customer with the responsibility for integrating the various engineering, scheduling, and purchasing aspects of the project in accordance with contract obligations.
Remote working is not acceptable for this position. A minimum of 4 days working at the office is required. It may increase to 5 days.
Key Responsibilities
- Leads the ST and GEN Project Engineers through contacts with EPCs, Owner’s Engineers, and Customers on all technical issues related to execution of power projects.
- Strategizes for ST and GEN PE team to add more values to the process of working between affiliates and customer by internalizing more knowledge and expertise through lessons learned and completion of trainings.
- Develops guidelines and strategy with the affiliates (Steam Turbine and Generator suppliers) in order to have clear DOR and working procedure.
- Gathers all the lessons learned related to ST and GEN portion either form Application team or any internal records. Share all the lessons learned with ST and GEN PEs, ask them to review, close the open items, and apply them to the new projects.
- Monitors schedules, budgets, and estimates through completion to ensure the project finishes on time and within budget. Leads periodic reviews of engineering execution schedule, expediting of engineering teams, escalation of needs and reporting of project technical delivery status.
- Leads the ST and GEN Project Engineers through the planning, setup and monitoring of the project systems, inter-discipline workflows and coordination of design activities through engineering disciplines. Leads the coordination and resolution of inter-disciplinary issues.
- Understands the Contract requirements and supports the translation of the scope of work to the discipline engineering teams.
- Monitors the hours and timecard for ST and GEN PE team to ensure the team stays withing the approved budgeted hours. In case of need for additional hours the standard approval process shall be done.
- Develop IDPs for each individual, support the development activities necessary to implement those IDPs.
- Conducts meetings with international engineering partners to ensure successful project implementation, support standardization and project schedule integration.
- Reviews and comments, as required, on project documents and drawings to meet contractual obligations for document flow.
- Collaborates with PE team Senior manager, GT PE manager, engineering discipline leads, Global Sourcing in the coordination of vendors/subcontractors.
- Serves as leader of engineering process improvement initiatives as required.
- Maintains familiarity with engineering codes as they apply to ST, GEN and Auxiliary equipment, including but not limited to, ASME, ANSI, AWS, API, ASTM, NFPA and NEC.
- Routinely supports Quality Assurance, Cost/Schedule, and other corporate functions as necessary.
Requirement
- Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering from a four-year ABET accredited College or University.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience with an EPC form or Steam Turbine and/or Generator OEM.
- Detailed understanding of design work processes and workflow.
- Experience developing engineering drawings and documents in an EPC firm or combustion/steam turbine/Generator OEM.
