Role Overview

 

The Engineering Operations Planner (Level 1) supports the planning and coordination of project scheduling and activities for Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, and Combined Cycle Equipment Projects. This entry-level role focuses on learning and applying standardized processes to help ensure engineering execution is aligned with schedules, budgets, and project deliverables.

 

Key Responsibilities

  

  • Assist in schedule development and task creation for engineering projects.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans that outline project scope, objectives, timelines, resource requirements, and deliverables.
  • Monitor and execute requests from the department’s work request system.
  • Review demand and capacity commitments in Primavera P6 for assigned work.
  • Confer with engineering management to resolve problems affecting engineering schedules.
  • Create, schedule and release engineering tasks to designated engineers.
  • Support tracking of performance metrics and coordination of activities/schedules.
  • Participate in process improvements related to project planning and preparation.
  • Provide data entry and database support for engineering project systems.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering teams to understand scheduling needs and deliverables.
  • Communicate effectively and escalate issues to supervisors as needed.

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field OR 2–3 years of industrial, EPC, power generation, or oil & gas project support experience.  
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word). Basic knowledge of Project Scheduling applications is preferred (Primavera P6, MS Projects, Deltek Open Plan, Safran Project, etc.).

 

 

Physical & Safety Requirements

 

  • Regularly required to sit, talk, and/or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand and walk.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% to sites where Mitsubishi Power Americas operates.
