Role Overview
The Fleet Risk Management Intern supports the development and implementation of the Fleet Risk Management Program, applying engineering principles to identify and quantify emerging risks across multiple projects and commercial contracts. This role assists in building processes, systems, data analysis methods, and internal training to support the organization’s risk management capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop understanding of power plants and engineering applications for Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, Generators, auxiliaries, valves, and secondary systems.
- Participate in training on construction and commissioning of power plants throughout internship.
- Engage in experiential learning connecting engineering with business operations.
- Support Engineering team in root cause investigations and fleet risk evaluation efforts.
- Collaborate with Project Operations, Product Line Management, and Engineering to develop process work procedures.
- Perform data analysis including operational trending, life extension analysis, FMEA, and component degradation assessment.
- Create, clean, and publish reports within Product Data Management Systems.
- Assist with project management tasks, reviews, and leadership reporting.
- Participate in design and planning discussions for new product applications.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Requirements
- Current student pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical, Aerospace, Construction, Industrial, or Computer Science Engineering.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence; capability to present information in small group settings.
- Mathematical ability including handling fractions, decimals, ratios, percentages, and interpreting bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense to written, oral, and diagram‑based instructions.
- Ability to summarize inspection and project work scope information logically.
- Proficiency with internet software, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, and word processing applications.
- Preferred technical experience: Python, MATLAB, C++, CAD (CREO/Windchill), PowerBI, SharePoint, Oracle P6, Power Apps, Power Automate, MS Projects.
