Role Overview
The Global Sourcing Specialist I is an individual contributor role within the Supply Chain organization, responsible for executing sourcing, procurement, and supplier expediting activities under general supervision. The role supports power generation projects by managing supplier sourcing, purchase order execution, delivery performance, and documentation compliance while adhering to established policies, procedures, and business guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute sourcing and procurement activities for assigned commodities, equipment, or services in alignment with project requirements.
- Prepare, issue, and manage RFPs and evaluate supplier quotations within delegated authority.
- Issue and administer purchase orders, revisions, and amendments using ERP systems (SAP preferred).
- Track supplier manufacturing and delivery progress against contractual schedules and MDRs.
- Expedite supplier documentation and identify delivery risks, supporting mitigation and recovery actions.
- Coordinate shipping readiness, logistics notifications, and site delivery alignment.
- Support resolution of overages, shortages, damages, and invoice discrepancies.
- Maintain delivery performance metrics including On Time Delivery (OTD).
- Coordinate with engineering, quality, logistics, project management, suppliers, and site teams.
- Communicate procurement status, risks, and recovery actions to internal stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience; typically 1–3 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, expediting, or supply chain execution.
- Working knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management, expediting, and material control.
- Ability to evaluate quotations and manage purchase orders within defined authority limits.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret schedules, specifications, and contractual documentation.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional coordination.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP preferred), spreadsheets, and standard business applications.
- Ability to work primarily in an office environment with occasional travel and light physical activity.
