Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. in Lake Mary, FL is seeking a Global Sourcing Buyer Level II.

SUMMARY

The Global Sourcing Buyer Level II coordinates and manages procurement activities for goods and services, including raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, advertising, and other materials. This role is responsible for issuing Requests for Proposal (RFPs), selecting and managing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring supplier performance aligns with Mitsubishi Power’s quality, delivery, and cost requirements. The position requires handling complex purchase orders with significant commercial and financial risk while supporting major procurement activities for power generation projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop equipment and service schedules based on forecasts, project site requirements, and new product development needs.

  • Prepare, issue, and manage RFPs for auxiliary engineered systems, skids, and components for power generation.

  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers to develop and maintain a qualified supplier base.

  • Execute purchase orders using ERP systems, preferably SAP (other ERP experience acceptable).

  • Apply technical knowledge of gas turbine and steam turbine auxiliary commodities to procurement activities.

  • Support major procurement initiatives, including capital equipment and new projects.

  • Resolve procurement issues related to auxiliary systems and equipment.

  • Review bid proposals and negotiate contract terms within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.

  • Manage supplier contracts to ensure compliance with requirements and timelines.

  • Coordinate informational exchanges and communications across teams contributing to material fulfillment.

  • Handle multiple quotes and purchase orders simultaneously, prioritizing work based on schedule demands.

  • Coordinate procurement activities to ensure timely delivery of critical materials.

  • Address defective or unacceptable goods or services with quality control, users, vendors, and other stakeholders to identify and resolve issues.

  • Conduct supplier performance reviews focusing on quality, delivery, and reliability metrics.

  • Establish long-term agreements with strategic suppliers to ensure consistent supply and cost optimization.

  • Provide support to management to meet corporate goals, objectives, and strategic projects.

  • Handle purchase orders valued at $5 million or more annually.

  • Review and negotiate terms and conditions to meet company and project targets.

  • Domestic and international buying experience required; domestic travel up to 20% may be necessary.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred.

  • Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of related experience in purchasing or sourcing.

  • Domestic and international buying/purchasing experience required.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and material requirements.

  • Skilled in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from employees and management effectively.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Skilled in problem-solving within environments with limited standardization.

Computer Skills:

  • Proficiency in email, word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.

  • Experience using ERP systems (preferably SAP) and scheduling software.
