Role Overview
This position provides expert-level server, application, network, cloud and on-premises infrastructure, tooling, and project capabilities to Mitsubishi Power’s Global IT function, implementing industry best-practices solutions to deliver highly-available, fault-tolerant, and scalable technology solutions in furtherance of business strategy.
The IT Operations Engineer serves as a subject matter expert and senior escalation resource for the Infrastructure & Operations team within MPW-A IT. The ideal candidate will have a diverse IT background with a strong emphasis on value creation, customer service, and cross-functional problem-solving.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Partner with the MHIA Shared Services team to execute an insource change of responsibility for network & infrastructure solutions managed by the Shared Services group. Support and sustain existing I&O throughout the course of this pivot.
• Deploy monitoring and observability capabilities throughout the MPW-A estate with unified solutions suitable for hybrid cloud environments.
• Augment the IT PMO, Office of IT Applications, and IT Service Desk as a subject matter expert.
• Lead design and implementation of new and updated technical processes and procedures.
• Accountably ensure compliance with SLAs throughout all IT functions.
• Forecast strategic demand in the on-premises and cloud estate.
• Develop a strategic infrastructure roadmap that maximally leverages IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions to scale global I&O capacity in parallel with the business.
• Deconstruct technology silos and replace them with integrated solutions.
• Containerize and automate provisioning of resources for scale and cost efficiency.
• Direct technical design, implementation, configuration, operation, maintenance, and upkeep of the MPW-A wired and wireless network, and network appliances, including switches and firewalls, at each MPW-A facility.
• Accountably operate and maintain MPW-A global IT infrastructure, including on-premises servers and storage, cloud subscriptions, resources and workloads, and Enterprise Application capacity.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting of server or application issues, both on-premises and in cloud.
• Establish a program to migrate legacy on-premises IT to the cloud.
• Partner with Strategic Sourcing & IT Procurement to continually assess the IT supply chain for risk mitigation and value.
• Liaise with contracted IT vendors and partners to realize optimized investments in Infrastructure & Operations.
• Identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities in hardware, software, and network configurations.
• Lead IT to ISO 27001 certification.
• Routinely audit network access and participate in external security assessments and reviews.
• Design the compliance regimen for server and application infrastructure updates and automate rollout.
• Maintain authoritative audit documentation for all licensed software throughout the organization.
• Ensure all software operating within MPW-A is aligned to the approved Application Portfolio and properly licensed.
• Collaborate with business consumers of IT to design and execute planned preventive maintenance; automate this maintenance whenever practicable.
• Refresh and implement modernized BC/DR planning and tabletop exercises.
• Establish evergreen governance to align MPW-A IT user directories with HR employee data.
• Craft a whole-of-business solution to onboarding, role changes, and offboarding (JML) that sees employee information successfully synchronized across all functions and services.
• Develop and implement Role & Resource-based access controls for information sharing.
• Create, maintain, and update systems documentation.
• Provide training to IT team members and IT consumers in individual and group settings.
• Partner with PMO and IT Applications to execute legacy solution uplift throughout the Application estate.
• Own and champion on behalf of IT consumers within the business, navigating escalations against competing priorities and engaging the appropriate resources to drive tactical objectives to completion.
• Leverage best practices for IT service management, including incident management, change management, and continuous improvement processes.
• Ensure compliance with IT security policies and procedures, conducting regular audits and coordinating with the security team to address vulnerabilities and risks.
• This role will be based in Lake Mary, FL, with approximately 10% travel within the Americas.
Knowledge, Skills & Education
• Education and/or Experience: Accredited two- or four-year degree in Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in IT Operations.
• MCSE, CCNA, CISSP, and/or VCP certifications or comparable industry equivalents preferred.
• Working understanding of DevOps methodologies, Scrum, Agile, and tools such as Jira.
• Expert-level technical knowledge of IT infrastructure components, including cloud services, networking, storage, and virtualization technologies.
• Expert-level technical knowledge of IT networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VPN, SD-WAN, subnetting, VLANs, QoS, and load balancing. Ability to architect highly available services with failover capabilities across facilities and/or the cloud.
• Experience supporting engineering teams and familiarity with the tools and processes used in IT infrastructure design and build activities.
• Experience supporting PaaS and SaaS application offerings and maintaining integrations.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and stakeholders.
