Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. in Lake Mary, Florida is looking for an Instrumentation & Controls Associate (INTERNSHIP).
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
- MUST be currently Enrolled in a bachelor’s Program in Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Work Schedule: During School need to be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week during business hours and can work up to 28 hours a week Max if a fit for the Student and During Breaks can be up to 40 hours a week as needed. (we will work around your school schedule and Finals).
- Length of Internship: 8 – 10 months minimum and could extend longer if a fit for the student and need to be able to commit to this time frame if selected.
- Must be able to start May 12, 2025, and be able to work at the office.
Summary:
The Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Intern/Co-op will assist in the specification, documentation, and procurement of instrumentation for large frame Gas Turbines. This role provides hands-on experience in instrumentation and gas turbine controls design, project support, and documentation management while working alongside experienced engineers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist in the review and documentation of instrumentation and control requirements for gas turbine projects.
- Support in the creation and maintenance of instrument lists, data sheets, and drawings under supervision.
- Help verify supplier quotes and ensure compliance with technical specifications and project requirements.
- Assist in updating and organizing Gas Turbine Control Logic documentation and I/O lists.
- Collaborate with engineers on instrumentation technical specifications, procurement schedules, and vendor evaluations.
- Participate in Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams verification and loop drawing reviews to ensure instrumentation alignment.
- Engage with suppliers, project engineers, and cross-functional teams to gain exposure to industry workflows.
- Assist in troubleshooting instrumentation-related issues and documenting solutions.
- Maintain compliance with technical standards and industry regulations applicable to I&C systems.
- Attend team meetings and contribute to project discussions.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree (BS, BE, BT) in Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering
- Basic understanding of instrumentation principles, sensors, transmitters, and control systems.
- Familiarity with technical documentation, P&IDs, and loop drawings is a plus.
- Exposure to industry standards such as ISA, ANSI, NFPA, or NEMA is preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with CAD, SQL, or Smart Plant suite is a plus. Must have Advanced Excel and VBA experience would be a PLUS.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and communicate effectively.
- Eagerness to learn from experienced engineers and apply theoretical knowledge in a real-world setting.
Additional Information:
- This role may require limited travel (<10%) for site visits or vendor meetings.
- Physical demands are typical of an engineering environment, including standing, walking, and occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
