Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. in Lake Mary, FL is looking for an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer.

 

SUMMARY

  • Specification and procurement of Instrumentation for large frame Gas Turbines.
  • Creation and maintenance of all supporting Instrument documentation.
  • Maintenance of Gas Turbine Control Logic documentation.
  • Support Project Engineering in addressing all Customer GT instrumentation and
  • Bid assessment and support for new gas turbine builds

 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Determination of Customer Instrumentation and Control contract requirements and delivery dates.
  • Creation of Instrumentation procurement schedule.
  • Creation of Instrument technical specifications and Request for Quotes.
  • Verification of Supplier quotes.
  • Verification of all instrumentation against system P&IDs and Instrument list creation.
  • Instrument loop creation and maintenance.
  • Data sheet creation for instrumentation.
  • Drawing creation for instrumentation.
  • Responsible for all design input documents needed in the creation of an I/O list.
  • Liaising with clients, suppliers, contractors, project management and other relevant authorities within cost and time constrained environments.
  • Collaborating with design engineers, operations engineers, purchasers, sales & marketing and other internal staff
  • Resolution of customer comments on all responsible drawings.
  • Creation and maintenance of I&C procedures and checklists.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving at various project sites
  • Understanding and ensuring compliance with the technical standards of the country in which work is undertaken.
  • Interpret and apply applicable codes like ISA, ANSI/NEMA, NFPA, AGA, etc.
  • New Vendor qualification if required.
  • Travel – up to 15%

  1.  HIGHLY DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE BUT NOT REQUIRED
  • Experience and general understanding of Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI), Smart Plant 3D (S3D).
  • Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) for instrumentation if required.
  • When necessary supporting Field Operations in performing on-site installation of instrumentation.
  • Provide start-up commissioning, operations and/or troubleshooting support for equipment failures and determine root cause analysis and implement solutions.

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (BS) in Engineering from four-year college or university; and at least five (5) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in specific I&C disciplines as applicable to power plants.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Computer Skills: Knowledge of database, project management, spreadsheet and word processing software, electronic mail, graphics, technical diagrams, flow charts, PDF editor, etc.
  • Key words for applicable controls skill set: Netmation, MK5, MK6, Complicity, T3000, R3000, SIMATIC, Ovataion, Delta V, graphic screens
  • Key words for applicable instrumentation skill set: Pressure transmitter, switches, gages, Control Valve, Thermocouple, RTD, vibration, speed, positioner, LVDT, Level, position, calorie meter, CEMS, emissions.
  • Key words for applicable plant control system skill set: Balance of Plant (BoP), I/O count, I/O list, signal interface, remote I/O, wiring, Combine cycle plant operation, High performance graphics
  • Key words standalone: SPI, Smart plant
