SUMMARY

 

Leader for Project Management Office (PMO) Process & Planning is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of project management processes for the execution of New Generation Systems (NGS) commercial contracts.  The Leader for PMO Process & Planning will also coordinate and maintain Job Aids, Training Materials, Work Instructions, and Standard Operating Procedures used to train and sustain the NGS Project Managers and their Execution Team in managing NGS commercial contracts.  The Leader reports to the Senior Director, Project Administration within the Risk & PMO Department.  In the future the Leader will also be responsible for the implementation of a Project Controls work center to coordinate the training and deployment of Project Schedulers, EPC Schedule Analysts, and Project Reporting Specialists to provide direct support to each Project Manager and their associated Project Execution Team.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure Safety 1st and Quality are core value of all teams engaged in the design, delivery, construction, commissioning and testing of Mitsubishi Power supplied equipment and services.  Set the tone, example and expectation that drives behavior and results built upon placing safe outcomes of each project at the forefront of each Project Team.
  • Develop, publish, and maintain a Project Execution Handbook founded upon best practices in project management that is consistent with Mitsubishi Power’s strategic goals and compliance with Mitsubishi Power’s ISO 9001 certification.
  • Develop, publish, and maintain Job Aids and Work Instructions designed to standardize and simplify key management and reporting tasks essential in making timely delivery commercial contract requirements including contract deliverable information, equipment & material, and services (i.e., contract scope of supply) within the commercially accepted schedule, and internally transferred budget while ensuring those deliverables meet the contract performance expectations, guarantees and Mitsubishi Quality expectations.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders across the Power Generation (Team) to facilitate the streamlining and coordination of seamless information transfer and reporting processes led by each Project Manager and their respective Project Execution team members.  Special emphasis on close coordination with the NGS Project Execution, NGS Finance, NGS Business Excellence, NGS Engineering, HGS Human Resources, NGS Supply Chain Management, and Logistics Management leads to ensure coordinated and cooperative development of processes and management tools.
  • Develop and deliver initial and recurring training focused on raising the overall expertise of the Project Execution team members engaged in the management of commercial contracts.
  • Develop a Project Manager certification plan focused on ensuring all Project Managers attain critical skills essential to their respective assignments as Deputy Project Managers (DPMs), Project Managers, and Project Directors working closely with Project Execution management.
  • Work closely with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) project management executive teams to ensure Mitsubishi Power developed PMO training, tools, and processes consider and integrate their needs into the PMO developed materials.

  • Expect to work while travelling in both the USA and internationally ~20-30% of the work year.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION

      • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (BS) in Engineering, or Business Administration with experience in the Power Industry, or other related fields from a four-year college or university; and fifteen (15) plus years related experience. PMP certification or equivalent accreditation is strongly encouraged. P.E. certification is beneficial to the position. MBA, finance or procurement prior experience is beneficial to the position.
      • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
      • Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
      • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
      • Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office; familiar with SAP, project scheduling Knowledge of computer-aided design, database, project management, spreadsheet and word processing software, electronic mail, graphics, technical diagrams, flow charts, etc.
