Role Overview
The Product Cost Manager is responsible for developing, analyzing, and managing product and project cost estimates in support of proposal development and execution. This role partners with Supply Chain, Engineering, Commercial Operations, and Product Manufacturing teams to ensure accurate cost modeling, identify cost reduction opportunities, and support competitive and executable project delivery strategies.
Key Responsibilities

• Support short- and long-term strategic goals related to cost-out; identify landed cost drivers, compare options, forecast results, and calculate future landed product costs to facilitate supplier quotations early in new product development
• Work closely with Commercial deal teams for customer project quoting; responsible for $100M of cost at any given time
• Execute proposal estimates for all GT auxiliary equipment, Supply Chain direct labor, and transportation costs, including import, tariff, and duty calculations
• Establish product cost per engineered specification; work with Supply Chain to perform cost reduction trade-off analyses
• Identify material purchasing options for cost savings based on manufacturing location, lead time, slot planning, and project execution schedule
• Evaluate cost savings opportunities (e.g., value engineering) and pursue by collaborating with Product Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Engineering
• Perform cost analysis (Total Cost of Ownership and Total Landed Cost) to achieve best-in-class value from manufacturing partners
• Use Power Plant layout knowledge to maximize cost savings through optimal plant configuration decisions and practices
• Introduce construction improvement ideas to the SCM business for cost evaluation
• Monitor actual cost of goods sold (COGS), conduct variance reviews, charting, graphing, and KPI development and maintenance
• Present and report cost status of products to Department Director
• Coordinate with Sales, Purchasing, and Product Manufacturing to achieve optimal product and project costs to support commercial operations
• Evaluate commodity and labor escalation and projections; apply correctly to proposals as risk or contingency
• Drive key initiative projects using company KPIs; look for new features and capabilities to improve competitive position for all Gas Turbine Auxiliary equipment
• Support cost management initiatives (CMI), Power+ and New Product Development initiatives starting from the material and component level
• Provide technical engineering support to the SCM team
• Promote standardization programs and align with portfolio targets; work with GT auxiliary equipment, intake systems, oil systems, exhaust systems, cooling systems
• Identify opportunities to improve products and costs from the constructability perspective; evaluate construction improvements in manufacturing and fair valuation from the EPC/Owner side
• Develop and implement strategic product roadmaps to assure life cycle success of the portfolio
• Maintain supplier manufacturing lead times, transport times, and develop proposal-level project schedules to ensure executable and on-time deliveries; assess execution risks

Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related field; MBA preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 5–8 years of experience in cost management, supply chain, estimating, or commercial operations; experience with commodities management or procurement is a plus
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to read, interpret, and analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and financial data
• Experience preparing reports, business correspondence, and presenting information to managers, clients, and stakeholders
• Advanced skills in cost modeling, financial analysis, and applying concepts of basic algebra and geometry
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); SAP or ERP experience preferred
• Effective communication skills; able to manage, delegate, and collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
