Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. in Lake Mary, FL is seeking a Project Controls Analyst.


SUMMARY

The Project Controls Analyst supports project execution by managing cost estimating, tracking, analysis, and reporting. This position is the central point for project cost control and serves as a key resource in providing current and historical project cost data across functional teams.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop project cost structure and standard work breakdowns in coordination with Accounting.

  • Prepare project cost estimates and overall project budget through collaboration with functional leaders.

  • Create project cash flow plans and ensure tracking of committed and spent costs.

  • Record direct costs including labor, materials, and vendor services through timesheets and procurement systems.

  • Work with Accounting to apply appropriate indirect costs per internal allocation processes.

  • Coordinate with Project Scheduler on tracking milestones and initiating customer invoices.

  • Generate planned vs. actual budget and cash flow reports on a weekly/monthly basis.

  • Update forecasted budget regularly and identify risks or scope changes affecting cost.

  • Participate in planning and status meetings to address cost control matters.

  • Support sales by using historical data to develop project pricing and quotations.

  • Perform cost variance analysis and provide recommendations for corrective action.

  • Maintain documentation of all cost control activities within project repositories.

  • Assist in developing and refining cost control processes and procedures.

  • Strong skills in MS Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

  • Effective time management and prioritization in a fast-paced project environment.

  • Analytical mindset for cost tracking and forecasting.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional coordination.

  • Professionalism when engaging with internal teams, vendors, and clients.

  • Adaptability and confidentiality in handling sensitive or shifting project needs.

  • Team collaboration and ability to work independently when required.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Accounting/Finance, Project Management, Construction Management, or Data Analytics.

  • Experience: 1–3 years of experience in project cost control and reporting in an EPC or related industry.

  • Language: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write reports and engage with cross-functional teams.

  • Math: Understanding of probability, statistics, geometry, and ability to apply formulas to real-world data.

  • Reasoning: Strong analytical ability to identify trends and address cost-related risks or problems.

  • Technical: Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Power BI, Visio, Acrobat), and working knowledge of databases and project management tools.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Regularly required to stand and walk.

  • May need to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs regularly, occasionally up to 50 lbs.

  • Work environment ranges from moderate to loud; hearing protection may be required in certain areas.
