Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. in Lake Mary, Florida is looking for a Project Engineer for Steam Turbine and Generators. Hybrid Schedule (3 days a week in the office).

The Project Engineer for Steam Turbine and Generator section acts as a liaison between MPWA engineering team, MPWA project management, EPC firm and customer with the responsibility for integrating the various engineering, scheduling, and purchasing aspects of the project in accordance with contract obligations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Leads the resolution of technical items related to steam turbine or generator between EPCs, Owner’s Engineers, and Customers during the execution of power generation projects.
  • Develops guidelines and strategy with the affiliates (Steam Turbine and Generator suppliers) to have clear Division of Responsibilities (DOR) and working procedure.
  • Gathers all the lessons learned related to steam turbine or generator from power projects and share these lessons with the rest of the organization.
  • Capable of reading and understanding Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), Single Line Diagrams (SLD) and equipment layout drawings.
  • Leads the coordination and resolution of inter-disciplinary issues between MPWA engineering team and steam turbine or generator supplier.
  • Understands the Contract requirements and supports the translation of the scope of work to the discipline engineering teams.
  • Conducts meetings with international engineering partners to ensure successful project implementation.
  • Reviews and comments, as required, on project documents and drawings to meet contractual obligations for document flow.
  • Collaborates in the day-to-day project life cycle with gas turbine and lead project engineers.
  • Maintains familiarity with engineering codes as they apply to ST, GEN, and Auxiliary equipment, including but not limited to, ASME, ANSI, AWS, API, ASTM, NFPA, IEEE and NEC.
  • Travel – less than 15%.
  • Perform other such duties as may be required.

  • Follow up and resolve any pending items that are found during or remain after completion of Project execution up to the expiration of Warranty period.

 

  • Collaborates with Global Sourcing, Quality Assurance, and Project Managers in the coordination of vendors/subcontractors.

 

  • Assist Application Engineering Group in reviewing, and evaluating Customer Specification together with parent company, as necessary.

 

  • Protect Company confidential information by not communicating, disclosing, or using for benefit of third parties.

 

  • Always maintain the highest degree of honesty and integrity.

 

  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures, reporting all unsafe activities to Management and/or Human Resources.

 

  • Contribute to building a positive team spirit.

 

  • Communicate effectively with all levels of employees.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION

Education and/or Experience:  Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from a four-year ABET accredited College or University.

A minimum of 5-8 years of experience with an EPC firm, Steam Turbine and/or Generator

OEM or power/petrochemical sector.

Detailed understanding of engineering design workflow between multi disciplines

(Process, Piping, Electrical, Instrumentation & Control) and EPC interfaces.

 

Desirable But Not Required: Master’s degree in engineering. P.E. license. Project Management Professional certification (PMP). Knowledge of SP3D software. Experience with ISO procedures and OSHA safety requirements. International business experience. Japanese language fluency and/or Spanish language fluency.

 

Language Skills: Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers.

 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

Computer Skills: Knowledge of project management (e.g., MS Projects), spreadsheet (e.g., MS Excel), word processing (e.g., MS Words), electronic mail (e.g., MS Outlook), 3D graphics (e.g., Smart Plant/PDMS), and technical diagrams/flow charts (e.g., MS Visio).
