SUMMARY

Quality Improvement Leader, NGS (New Generation Systems) reports to the VP of Business Excellence. Provides leadership, oversight and commitment to the development, implementation and improvement of quality ensuring customer and business satisfaction. For the avoidance of doubt, NGS quality shall encompass all areas of the business units including but not limited to Estimation, Engineering, Project Execution and Commissioning and proposal/contracting activities. Direct the activities associated with compliance to internal and external requirements and facilitate business assurance initiatives in support of the NGS business strategy. Work with all Business Divisions to ensure execution excellence via a positive business culture, foundation, and a framework of corporate business programs. Support MPW-A Quality Management System processes and communications. Serve as key interface with internal and external stakeholders and collaborate on best practices for enterprise application.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate, manage, and integrate collaboration on First of a Kind, Root Cause Analysis, Corrective Action and Lessons Learned activities with various Business Divisions within NGS as well as internal and external stake holders (i.e., counterparts in Japan, manufacturing, vendors) addressing critical issues posing risk to customer quality satisfaction.
  • Manage development and implementation of strategic NGS quality programs, including methods, timing, and financial impact monitoring to make recommendations to and influence improvement in quality to support, collaborate and integrate with NGS’s business plan and strategy.
  • Develop and implement proactive initiatives which facilitate the development and maintenance of a customer-focused culture.
  • Organize and lead inter Business Divisions forum to communicate quality related metrics to key stakeholders and secure consensus and commitment on associated initiatives across NGS.
  • Collaborate with NGS management, project teams and other organizations to provide quality solutions in accordance with NGS standards and needs.
  • Document quality processes and policies, define and implement improvement opportunities, and monitor performance against established standards and goals.
  • Establish, maintain, and implement communications to increase awareness and improvement of quality issues across NGS.
  • Assist the Business Divisions to work with customers, business partners and suppliers as necessary to better enable customer satisfaction on situations impacting or involving quality.
  • Work with the leaders of each NGS Business Division to develop Quality KPIs to make decisions based on the data regarding cost of quality opportunities.  The KPIs should be direct measures of a department’s product/deliverables to the business and/or customers. The KPIs should also address leading indicators that may affect the quality of the services provided.
  • Manage compliance and conformance aspects of the MPW-A Quality Management Systems including adherence to applicable ISO Standards and MPW Global Requirements. This responsibility will include being the point of contact to the corporate MPW-A QMS team for the ISO audits.
  • Facilitate awareness training across NGS to convey applicable knowledge to business stakeholders. This may include training content development.

The level of this position will be determined based on candidate experience.

 

      • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Discipline; Minimum ten (10) years of professional work experience in Quality Programs directly related to power generation projects and power generation component manufacturing environment and supplier quality management and control; or equivalent combination of education and training. At least 5 years management experience in quality programs.  
      • Mathematical Skills: Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.  Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
      • Reasoning Ability: Strong quality and problem-solving background preferred.  Ability to influence decisions and compel action in a complex environment. Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
      • Computer Skills: Knowledge of database, project management, spreadsheet, and word processing software, electronic mail, statistical software, graphics, technical diagrams, flow charts, etc.
      • Certifications: ISO certified, Lead Auditor, Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) is highly desirable.
      • Language: English is required. Spanish and Japanese are highly desirable.
