Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. in Lake Mary, Florida is looking for a Government Relations Senior Director.
This role is– HYBRID and based at the Headquarters in Lake Mary, FL.
SUMMARY
The Government Relations Senior Director will lead government relations strategy, planning, and execution for Mitsubishi Power Americas. You will lead a team of direct reports, agencies, and third parties, and report to the Chief of Staff. Your main objective is to position Mitsubishi Power as the Energy Transition thought leader within the legislative and regulatory landscape for power generation and energy storage solutions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Align commercially driven GR engagement strategies and policy priorities with senior leadership, business leaders, and key stakeholders.
- Shape business strategy by providing real-time political risk and opportunity analysis, insights, and recommendations to business units, customers, and external stakeholders.
- Secure federal, state, and local support of customer projects that advance government decarbonization goals.
- Execute targeted policy advocacy at federal, state, and local government levels that raises. awareness of our mission and advances our business objectives.
- Draft language for legislation, energy plans, and regulatory documents.
- Track and lobby on specific pieces of legislation that impact our business while strictly adhering to all regulations.
- Monitor and influence trade policy so that it supports our businesses’ objectives for cost reduction and supply chain reliability.
- Develop and implement a plan that builds a strong political network and builds relationships with elected officials, regulatory agencies, and NGOs (trade associations, communities, environmental groups, etc.).
- Leads team of direct reports, agencies, and third parties in the planning, communication and execution of enterprise objectives and strategies.
- Manage Political Action Committee (PAC) fundraising, registration, and compliance reporting at the federal and state levels.
- Strict compliance with state and federal ethics and election laws.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Thorough understanding of principles and methods used to promote and influence.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Contribute to building a positive enterprise culture and communicate effectively with all employees.
- Travel - 20% throughout the Americas.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION
The leader must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) preferred in Political Science, Public Administration, Government, or a similar field from a four-year college or university. Master’s degree is desirable, but not required.
- Experience: 8+ years of progressive combined experience in federal / state / local government relations, energy policy, legislative staff, and campaigns. Experience should include a robust network of contacts within the federal, state, and local government, agencies, and other stakeholder organizations.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills and highly developed interpersonal skills. Ability to write business correspondence, present information, and respond to questions from stakeholders.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and government relations.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Computer Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Other Skill/Abilities: Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and time management.
